Civilization V Strategy Game Launches Natively On SteamOS Linux

Does anyone know if I could get this to work on my "Steam console" setup (from a practical POV, that is)? I love Civ, but playing it in the living room, siting on the couch 2 meters away from the screen doesn't seem like a lot of fun, especially since I'd have to forgo my Gamepad and get a keyboard/mouse.

Man, I wish Civ V had the console-friendliness of Civ Revolution [runs for cover]...

Good catch! But I wonder how this payment system works. If I buy Civ V on my Linux machine but only play it on Windows for whatever reason, Aspyr's not getting paid, is it?

Wow, I wasn't expecting Civ V to come out before XCOM *at all*. Let's see if my marriage will survive this.

Yeah, +1 to the Casts and -1 to the muted Gameplay videos. Silent gaming I can do at home. :p

Any chance I'll be able to merge my Steam library and GOG library statistics? I'd like to have an aggregated measure of total play times and achievement progress. Such a feature would make me much more inclined to try GOG and the lack thereof makes me avoid games outside Steam even when they are cheaper.

I wonder if it is worth to buy it now or wait until summer ....
I don't know if I understand how his works, but I guess it's better to wait for the Linux release so they can better correlate one event with the other. Not to mention the game's been 80% off on previous occasions.

Since it's Feral and not Firaxis the direct responsible for both ports, would this affect in any way the chances of us getting a port confirmation for Civ V (which was ported to Mac by Aspyr)?

...not to mention a delicious pizza still tastes delicious if someone spits on it (as long as you don't see it, of course).

Pretty much no. I could give reasons...but no, that won't happen (I mean 100% native won't happen, not about me giving reasons).
Well, hopefully they're chalking it up to being the port of an older game potentially aimed at testing sales volume and, if all goes well, Witcher 3 will go through a more thorough port.

Quoting: scaineFolk need to stop going on about the wrapper too. It's utterly irrelevant. What's relevant is the quality of the final product and in this case, for a lot of people, that's what's been lacking.
I have to disagree, the tools used are exactly what causes the issues so it is entirely relevant.
