I should get myself a gaming rig, but it's hard to find Linux machines with a decent AMD GPU. I can't put one together myself, 'cause I always mess up putting the CPU on the motherboard and end up wrecking everything.

Tuxedo Computers have some very nice gaming laptops for people who can read German. Could be cheaper shipping-wise for people on the mainland.

Every time I see anything about the RPG Maker series I want to code a game engine that uses Perl for scripting tasks, but it'd just take too much of my time to really be worth the effort.

Yes, we also have good games, but I'd kinda prefer at least half of the games on Linux being good, rather than invoking Sturgeon's Law.

Quoting: liamdaweFallout 4 on Linux, yes please.No. No! Seriously, we already have plenty of crap games for Linux, we need good games, not festering piles of shit.

Natively on Linux I've been playing Starbound: It's pretty good.
On my PS Vita I've started a hard run of Persona 3 Portable, and I'm discovering the joy of using items in battle.
And finally I've also been playing a bunch of Neverwinter Nights 2 modules under Wine. The Warlock class in NWN2 is a lot more interesting than its P&P counterpart (due in part to video games not sticking to the recommended 4 encounters/day).

Nobody is willing to put in 10% more funds to get a potential 1% more sales. And we come back in our vicious circle (not enough platform selling games -> not many people want to switch -> not many devs want to port their games -> not enough platform selling games).

Quoting: Alm888The only way to get a Linux version at 100%+ of Windows performance is to work directly with developers and persuade them to build their games with Linux in mind from the ground-zero. And that's my point by which I stand. The unfortunate thing is that they won't be willing to put the money into the meagre amount of potential extra sales (don't look at absolute numbers, those are deceiving, look at percentages).

On the other hand, I doubt we'll ever see another take on Birthright (Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance is a DOS game based on the birthright campaign setting of D&D, and it's much more of a TBS than an RPG).

Quoting: DrMcCoyWhich is nice and all, but... I liked Caed Nua not just because it was mine, but also because it gave me some status in the world, in the politics. While any old bugger can be captain of a ship, owning land comes with more social standing and more responsibility.Reminds me of how Neverwinter Nights 2 gave you Crossroad Keep after the halfway point. That's how you handle higher level characters, after all. Too powerful for Orcs and Goblins? Try politics.
Maybe it's just me, but I would have liked a sequel to tune down on the world hopping and increase the local politics of being the sovereign over that area. Something like what that A Call to Court quest-line of PoE 3.0 foreshadowed, where Lord Gathbin challenged your claim to Caed Nua and you had to fight him off.
