Arrowhead focus on fixing up all the issues with HELLDIVERS 2 getting a big bug-squashing patch
24 Oct 2025 at 9:27 am UTC

The caveat is that those fixes (200 of the thousands) come with a massive list of weapons' and stuff' crazy "rebalancing" again -to almost insane (arbitrary?) levels-, showing that almost 2 years later the game is still unstable (= constantly moving) in terms of gameplay, meaning that the studio remains clueless and vastly incompetent in what it wants to do and how to do it properly. Will wait until it reaches 1.0, which will never happen I guess.

Tried the demo; it's overengineered, i.e "too much" at times without clear direction. Pass.

Sigh, yet another generic one that has only very basic attacks to offer (aka 1-button spam) without any (chained) combos, that does not even have grabbing and where everything is flat and characters and attacks (and the sounds of them) feel paper-weight. It's also not enough "cosmic" in such small and confined areas.

Suspect you need to check your internet, or YouTube settings or something
I’m going to assume you’ve never played at, as graphically it looks great.
0:19-0:24, 0:27, this looks like Darksiders 1, there are no shadows at all. In all outside areas shown in the trailer as well, all areas look extremely bland.

From what I've seen in general this game has no dynamic shadows at all, it's all prebaked tech of 1998 with 1 global illumination source (that sometimes does not even seem to work), and apparently they don't even use granny tech of simple blob shadows underneath the characters, it looks like they are on a different (higher) level from the ground -if the feet are not inside geometry as in 95% of all the time-. Urban areas (cities) look even worse from what I remember, blocky and flat as hell, cars and lighting poles not casting shadows, they don't even have Ambient Occlusion to provide some fake illusion. Red Faction 2 level.

They are console developers and players, I get it, things like that don't matter a lot.

Graphics look like complete garbage though  Looks like Halo, Darksiders, made with Unreal Engine 2 without even using prebaked shadows

P.S. The tavern guy is gold material too

Semigod genious and FOSS enthusiast John Carmack made all his beautifully optimized coding open-source (up until idtech4 iirc) so that many studios could learn and make their own (many and great) 3D engines we had for a while, until we landed with everyone using the unoptimized bloaty slop called Unreal Engine 5...

Some brilliant gems in this list!
I only know of (and have played) Fallout 4, Skyrim and Tomb Raider (it's just a remaster), which are really old games and I suppose everyone beyond an age has played them or already owns them, what are the other brilliant gems?

Fun (!) part: Ubuntu already tried to get rid of this more than five years ago (19.10 and 20.04 LTS) and received the same flak.
The fun part is that they learned their lesson and didn't try that again, while you and the 3 representatives of Red Hat seemed to not have learned anything from it.
