EA rebrand and refresh their anti-cheat into EA Javelin Anticheat, still blocks Linux / Steam Deck

Meanwhile, I find it odd that they called this thing "Javelin".
maybe javelin as in anthem's javelin?

Unity apologises for the new runtime fee, say they will make changes

that apology message of theirs feels like any other corporate apology. same "we heard you", same "confusion/misunderstanding", almost like it's made from a template

DOOM Eternal removed Denuvo and it plays great on Steam Deck

can't say if it's id who chose to include it in the first place or bethesda strongly suggesting, but ideally they should've learned from rage 2 release (or this drm's reputation)

Overwatch 2 becomes the worst user-reviewed game on Steam

it really is an interesting situation. while they deserve bad publicity, I think a review on a single game should be about the game only and things relevant to it, otherwise it's as relevant as ascii copypasted art, be it in a negative or positive "review". even then there's a thing with people that keep complaining yet keep playing and paying (wow is a more known case at least for me). I'm certain it would happen with any game they could put on steam, even with diablo 2 (the original one, not the new one)

Overwatch 2 heads to Steam making it even easier on Steam Deck / Linux

would be interesting to see if they would move other games and what they'll do with them in general (namely sc2, hots, maybe d2/3). though something tells me it's just a move to expose ow2 to a larger audience

STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor had a very rough launch

it seems more like a trend now. it's unreal engine 4 (again), with denuvo (again), wanting to look as realistic as possible (again), and misuse of shader compilation (again)

What have you been playing recently, come tell your thoughts

A bit of this and a bit of that. More specifically...

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night -- missed this one on release (and several years post-release); an actual Castlevania(-like) game on PC.

Axiom Verge -- same as B:RotN; pretty good Metroid-like game, and with Linux native version at that.

Dead Cells -- my "want something difficult-ish" fix, and just a great action game on its own.

Hades -- nearly a (if not the) perfection of roguelite dungeon crawlers. And way too cheap given the amount of content it has.

Not finished, but probably soon: Crosscode (and its DLC, A New Home), Children of Morta, Octopath Traveler.
