Quoting: neowiz73china has been wanting to get rid of Microsoft for a number of years now, but of course their are pirated copies of windows going around everywhere there. but now with ChromeOS, Android and various distributions of Linux like Kylin and Deepin (and the untold variations within China, that we don't see open sourced). it's no surprise to see something start to happen with the marketshare.
But it's always good to see things in a positive direction. :)
All of these were there for years! Not for a few months. They all existent years ago.

this will be a free to play title with micro-transactions
Thanks, done with it.
Quoting: razing32I'm a bit iffy on the whole Single-Player microtransactions.
I get the business model in Multi-Player , makes sense there.
Did you ever play Knights of Pen and Paper (av. on Linux and Android)?
Fun SP game, paid, still has microtransactions. But hey, I don't know anyone who use them!

P.S.: don't get me wrong, I don't approve microtransactions in SP games, especially in paid ones.

Atari are launching a new gaming system, the 'Ataribox' and it runs Linux
26 Sep 2017 at 1:12 pm UTC

Quoting: MohandevirIf it is Zen AMD APU based, chances are that it will be more powerfull than the actual Nintendo Switch and will probably play in the same league. If Atari gets back into the publishing game again for futur titles, this is the Linux box I've been waiting for. Mine! Mine! Mine! :)

"While there are no firm specs revealed (as of writing) beyond the use of a ‘customised’ AMD CPU and Radeon graphics, we do know that the machine will be sold in a range of 'memory configurations'."

Looking forward to these 'memory configurations'.
Well, I guess there are possible eMMC (SSD) config 16 or 32GB, just like nVidia shield only for retro games and indies, then, I think, there are will be 500 GB model, and for hardcore gamers there are will be 1TB or more.

Quoting: Tcheythe rich are the ones responsible for many harm done to the planet and its population
I don't agree. Whole humanity is responsible. Not only 1%, but almost everyone else does. Consumers are responsible. Instead of using things as long as they can serve, consumers change them as fast as fashion changes and as fast they could afford it. Nobody wants previous-gen iPhone - everyone wants current gen iPhone. Nobody wants a car in before-restyling style, all wants an actual model. Not all could afford it, though. Sugar in polyethilene packets costs $0.60 per kilo, but hey - in paper packet it will costs as much as twice of it. Flour - the same issue. Instead of fixing, we throw away things and buy new ones. I know how to solder and how to fix things, but it's not because I care about pollution - it's because I'm poor.

One of Valve's choices of games to highlight for Steam Machines is more than a little silly

Quoting: AresoI think it was picked by random with some limitations (for example, not being in Early Access, at least average good user's reviews and game magazines' reviews, a lot of purchases and so on).
It was in really early early access when it was picked for the list. :)
Well, it may be completely random xD
I think, liamdawe could ask Valve...

Planet Nomads drops plans to have co-op and multiplayer

Quoting: TheSHEEEPA survival game completely without co-op?
Weird. To say the least.

But to promise multiplayer as a stretch goal is just completely beyond amateurish.
Every developer worth his money knows that multiplayer is a framework decision, not something you can just "add" later on.
Doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the developer in this case.
Don't Starve. A survival game completely without co-op.

Don't Starve. Single player game, where multiplayer was "added" sometime later. (As well as Goat Simulator).
Though I agree, MP is something very fundamental. It is should be supported by game's architecture.
