Quoting: TheFluffyOneAh, you're right! Right (next but one) to the play button.Quoting: EikeI think I already got those five years passed, but is there a way to check before I reset the counter without getting the achievement? The game page in your library should give you a "last played" date.

How about:
* "The software sucks." (still not helpful)
* "The software is very interesting, but I see the following ways it could be even more helpful..."

Quoting: slaapliedjeSo if you're doing it for A/B, I could see people saying 'dude, all your efforts are for not, and you suck!' being something that'd give you reason to rethink your approach. But there is 'You suck!' and 'You currently suck, but maybe do this a different way and it'll improve' comments.Maybe, but both are bad. Like in... very bad.

I released a plugin for a open source TV system, VDR, that allows to rewind in live TV.
People told me that nobody needs this, that it's basically stupid to want this, then, when I asked for tests, the only feedback once was from a person where it didn't work, and I've got no idea how many people are actually using it.
... but then, people are using it, are still adapting it to the newest version of VDR, and I got translations from the Netherlands and Finland, so I know, the usage is at least somewhat international. :)
Keep your expectations low, and, hopefully, reality won't go below.

Quoting: GuestMost people expect a pat on the back for their efforts, but they rarely return the favor unfortunately. I'm working on some open source software that I'm hesitant to release as I don't know how I'll react to ungrateful people...To motivate ;) you...

Quoting: PhiladelphusBut since it has been around so long, presumably we could look at history to make some sort of educated guess, right?I really don't know. I mean, I don't know the answer, and I don't even know if we can make an educated guess or if we would be miles from reality. What are you paying if you buy 100.000 instead of 1, or if you got kind of a electronic part subscription?!? Don't ask me. :) I'd guess public information would be sparse.

I don't think anybody says that selling below cost is an incredible claim. It's just that we don't know for sure, and probably never will.

Quoting: PhiladelphusNot sure why that's such an incredible claim, the concept of a loss leader [External Link] has been around—as in, documented that people and companies have done this exact thing—for at least half a century.Ok...
Quoting: PhiladelphusBut hey, show me a list of components that produce a device with the same features and specs as the Steam Deck and which cost less than $400 and I'll believe it.... but volume discount has been around—as in, documented that people and companies have done this exact thing—for millennia.

I understand they got bitter. Their business case is dying, and in my humble opinion there's not much they can do about it. (Maybe if they are quick enough with a big SteamOS device Valve is thinking about?) Of course they have to react more decent on this situation.
... and I understand Liam very good. Being blocked for no good reason feels bad, and having the possibility to react publicly on it and being seen on Google feels good. Been there, done that. :)
