Linux gaming might not yield Valve as much money as they put into it, dunno.
It might still be a lever for Valve to avoid closing of Microsoft's ecosystem...

No, it's not, i've disabled the steam overlay a lot of times just for hiding achievement popups, you still get them but you won't see it.

You got an example of a game I can try it on cause I never have the overlay enabled.
If you don't get them and I do I'm certainly going to make a ticket on it.

I think you should be making examples. :)
AFAIK, no game can show the Steam notifications with Steam overlay disabled.
