What seems often to be forgotten about the Steam Controller is that you don't need to use the touchpads for most games supporting controllers. But they are handy if you want to play some mouse and keyboard games on the couch.

Now if you know it from a Feral employee or a tool enlighten me, or played the game using Proton/wine without any issues (and without the extension of course available in driver), then that might be a good indicator that it is not used.
