Quoting: Sol33t303It almost seems like PlayerUnknown has created a new genre,
Yeah, they call it Battle Royale. (And used to call it Deathmatch or King of the Hill...)

Quoting: Sol33t303much like how games such as Doom created the FPS genre, I know he's not going to be happy, but I would be proud if I were him that everybody likes my game enough that everybody's trying to copy it! (I know there were earlier FPS games than Doom, but I can't think of any off the top of my head and Doom was the one that made the genre popular)
Wolfenstein 3D was there, and known well enough to earn the new releases. But of course, Doom was bigger.

Quoting: slaapliedjeIf it starts working in VR, a bit of advice; set up a table and chair in the approximate positions in game. A few too many times someone gets up after being exploded and tries to set down the controls on the VR table, and there isn't one, they've just dropped your expensive controllers on the ground!

I almost did it myself twice!
Now that's what they call immersion.

Quoting: slaapliedjeIt REALLY needs to support VR. This game is a blast with some friends/family. We played it for hours at my Sister's.
While I can imagine that it's great with VR, I watched some Let's Plays and think it's really good also without it...

Quoting: erlaanYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Time to get a VR for this game!
I don't want to provoke a NOOOOOOO, but the Linux version doesn't support VR...

Quoting: Geppeto35Already I'm bored to wait for the end of the rounds in CS ... in such a game, I would go crazy.
Good additonal motivation not to die.

Quoting: Geppeto35What the interest in that case to play against other humans on the web? Opponents could be bots with different skills. AI is bad to collectively build something with human and adjust with other biotic intelligence to reach a common goal. In pure competition "all against all", AI can do the job.
I need to try it to understand, but not a that price and not on windows :-DD
I guess the motivation is to beat real humans. Someones crying at his computer. ;) And humans act more interesting than AIs.

If you don't know PUBG, I think you should watch a good Let's Play.
It does cause quite some tension I think. (And I didn't even play it, just watch... :) )

ScummVM 2.0 released adding support for more classic games

Does anybody use ScumVM on a mobile?
Tried it on my 5" phone, but didn't find the user interface very enjoyable...

Quoting: GuestSo....deathmatch on an initially large map. Meh.
I think an important part is the shrinking sphere inflicting damage. It all boils down to a small part of the map (the place of which is not initially known) - and even down to zero if nothing happens for some minutes in the minimal space.

While I would have no chance against experiences players, I'd love to play this.
Hey, maybe the experienced players will stay where they are? :)
