Quoting: silmethI wonder – what Western Europe means there? Is it European Union? Is it geographic Western Europe (west of Germany)? Is it everything west of Russian territories (= European part of Russia?)? Does it include Central European part of the Union, does it include Belarus and Ukraine?
I'm guessing it means the non-russian part of europe.
Now we can debate which parts are russian and which are not :-).
My guess would be the countries that were capitalistic in the cold war.

Some things developers might want to think about when bringing a game to Linux

Quoting: PhiladelphusThere may very well be good reasons for making games 64-bit and I've love to hear them, it's just that I tend to see 64-bit thrown around as a bit of a buzz-word.
Another advantage of 64 bit builds is more registers, which might make some things faster. But if they are far from needing 4 GB, a port of their engine to 64 bits might actually not be worth it. (And depending how well it was implemented, possibly long ago, it might be hard.) There's no magical performance doubling or something along the lines.

Quoting: LeopardThat looks pointless to me actually. I don't care about how Steam and it's Windows user base grows.

Valve should encourage Linux usage on Asia , that is the only way i can be happy about this kind of news.
We get the percentage of Linux users monthly. Would be nice to have the gross number to estimate the Linux number an its development.

Quoting: xaviI love metroidvanias, when I was a kid I played a lot Vampire Killer on the MSX, that was the precursor of Castlevania.
Cool, someone who had MSX,too! Where are you from? Not too many people had one here in Germany...

Interestingly, I wasn't into Metroidvania even back then. I stopped Vampire Killer after some minutes, but loved e.g. Metal Gear or Maze of Galious.

It's not an absolute limit, you can still try. Maybe send them a link to an article that it's been broken many times.

PAYDAY 2 is currently free for the first 5 million people who grab it on Steam

Quoting: ExpalphalogI've read that the single player is awful and the level of toxicity that I have encountered in every single multiplayer game I have ever tried has guaranteed that I only play single player games anymore.
I'm sensitive to such behaviour as well. But I had a very good time with Frozen Synapse with the friendliest community by a wide margin I've ever met in a competitive online game. So... don't give up.

...but I didn't pick up Payday either.
