Looks like Rome: Total War might be coming to Linux, according to Feral's port radar

Quoting: MetallinatusSo are those people who complain that we are getting one more game in this site a new breed of the troll that goes to our Steam posts just to say "-1" or stuff alike?
You could see it the way Feral should use their time on something I as commenter want to play.
(I don't see it that way, enough to play for now and mid-range future and mainly caring for Feral doing well commercially.)

Quoting: AimHereAlso, Rome is still one of the more popular games in the series, between the nostalgia factor (it was the first proper 3D Total War, and for many gamers, it was their first game in the series), and the relative simplicity of the gameplay. I wouldn't be surprised if it sells more than some of the later TW games.
Do you have a recommendation for a Total War to try for modern graphics and "relatively simplistic" gameplay?

I don't care for Total War, but I'm happy it seems to bring money for Feral.

Quoting: EhvisThat means you're basically ignoring the requests thread and you make up your own mind about the market potential and weigh it against the investment needed. Which does sound perfectly reasonable to me.
No. There used to be a rule at magazines and newspapers, like one letter written to us probably stands for X people thinking the same but not writing. Of course, this must be adapted to modern ways of communicating, but something like this still applies: Very few people adding to the thread, probably not this much interest, more people writing, more interest. And all this must be compared to the size of the project: 100 people asking for Fallout 4 on Linux, not so much, 100 people asking for an indie project, hey, that's cool. So, you still must weigh the input, put it doesn't render the input worthless.

Total War: SHOGUN 2 and Fall of the Samurai are heading to Linux from Feral Interactive

Quoting: michaI can't keep wondering whether it just was comparably little effort to port or if there's another reason to choose a 6 year old game with plenty of similar ones available.
I guess it's not too hard to port after some other games with the same engine, and my guess is that Total War sells well on Linux. (Not due to me, though.)

Quoting: EhvisThe highest number of replies I've seen to such threads is about 200. Most are a few dozen. From a business point of view, about as unimpressive as it gets.
Of course, they need to take into account that only a small portion of people who would buy it are actually posting in (or even now of) such a thread.
