Quoting: michaTo be fair, SteamOS as a (console) OS feels indeed quite dead if you look at its user base (roughly 1% of all Linux gamers and Linux itself is around 1% on PCs, right?).I wondered were you had the 1% of Linux gamers from. Figured out you meant SteamOS itself, seperated from all other "Linuces". Never counted it that way.

Quoting: gqmeloI worked on a company that developed OpenGL applications and using this approach we were able to build on CentOS 5 and run on Ubuntu 16.10, for example. That's 9 years of backward compatibility. How much work was it to follow all security problems, update the statically linked binaries and ship them for nine years...?
Shadow of Mordor is currently 80% off and free to play for a few days

An incredible experience from start to finish, I completed it and really wished there was more! The Nemesis system really makes things interesting with the Uruk leaders gaining power each time they defeat you. I think it's probably one of the most fun enemy mechanics in any game and really helps you stay interested, it also makes the battles constantly tense. The most important part for me was not them getting stronger, but them remembering you. It gives so much more life to the game.
I'm hoping sales of it have been good enough for Feral Interactive to port the new Shadow of War that's due out this year, as it looks amazing.Pleeease!

Quoting: ArdjeMy guess would be the countries that were capitalistic in the cold war.Quoting: silmethI wonder – what Western Europe means there? Is it European Union? Is it geographic Western Europe (west of Germany)? Is it everything west of Russian territories (= European part of Russia?)? Does it include Central European part of the Union, does it include Belarus and Ukraine?I'm guessing it means the non-russian part of europe.
Now we can debate which parts are russian and which are not :-).

Quoting: PhiladelphusThere may very well be good reasons for making games 64-bit and I've love to hear them, it's just that I tend to see 64-bit thrown around as a bit of a buzz-word.Another advantage of 64 bit builds is more registers, which might make some things faster. But if they are far from needing 4 GB, a port of their engine to 64 bits might actually not be worth it. (And depending how well it was implemented, possibly long ago, it might be hard.) There's no magical performance doubling or something along the lines.

Quoting: LeopardThat looks pointless to me actually. I don't care about how Steam and it's Windows user base grows. We get the percentage of Linux users monthly. Would be nice to have the gross number to estimate the Linux number an its development.
Valve should encourage Linux usage on Asia , that is the only way i can be happy about this kind of news.

Interestingly, I wasn't into Metroidvania even back then. I stopped Vampire Killer after some minutes, but loved e.g. Metal Gear or Maze of Galious.
