Quoting: constI still think with the current state of technology, it would have been wiser to reinvent VR in arcades and take the consumer-pricing out of the picture.
They are doing this already, VR arcades are sprouting here!

I love the sound of it:
"I expect things like graphics shaders to break" - but still "people want to work on it"!
Sounds like they're curious. Sound like they don't mind facing bugs.

Quoting: bubexelYou don't see a monitor, you see a world in front of you.
What I didn't understand for a long time that its not about 3D.
And I wouldn't call it "a world in front of you".
It's a world around you.
Using it was like stepping into the monitor after 35 years of sitting in front of it.

I'm not sure how good games actually will be, and I'm not sure if it will replace conventional gaming.
But it's a great thing for sure, and I really hope it's here to stay.

Quoting: anthIt probably seems like moving the goalposts, but I think you need to have used one of the consumer versions including tracked controllers (ie Vive or Rift+Touch). Just the headset won't give the full experience, and the Oculus dev kits 1 and 2 were too limited even without considering input.
I tried a roller coaster ride on Occulus (and my fear of heights did trigger!) and "Monster Escape" on Playstation. When running through the town as a monster, having to destroy skyscrapers with the head, I automatically moved my hands to hit them. Because I was the monster.

Quoting: tofuheada question.. wasn't starbound a 2016 game? couldn't find that in the list anywhere.
Yes, it was released in 2016.
It found its place on one on the lists, best audio:

Quoting: liamdaweSorry about that, have adjusted it to only show that button on the one you voted for.
Theoretically, I might just have remembered - but not in my age! ;)

I get a "remove vote" button for every game in a category I already voted in.
So there is no way to look up what I actaually voted for?

Quoting: EikeI'd be interested in voting numbers per category in the end!
I could add that in now, but I want to make sure people are okay with it. I can't see it swaying any votes or anything, so it should be okay?
Just to make sure: I was thinking of "How many people voted in this category?", not "How many people voted for a certain game?" The later one for sure could influence, I wouldn't like that.

Quoting: KeyrockVoted in every category save for Most Promising Early Access Game, on account of me not touching early access games with a 10 foot pole. So many great games to choose from in each category. Hopefully 2017 is an even better year.
Didn't vote (yet?) in
* Best audio of a game released in 2016
* Best update released in 2016
* Favourite open source game
I'd be interested in voting numbers per category in the end!
