Steam Hardware Survey For September 2014, Linux Rises

Quoting: adolsonMaybe instead of saying Linux rises or Linux falls, we should look at the actual estimated user count every month, and base the fall / rise on the percentage of that.
Sounds good, but AFAIR, they don't publish the total number of users monthly.

Quoting: subWe can safely assume those 0.1 % "raise" is close to the uncertainty bounds.
It makes no sense to interpret it as a trend.
+1
The numbers have been going down a bit, the numbers now have gone up a bit, ...

Quoting: aLI would not join such group, since it seems silly. I think my money will support those who support me, without silliness and talks loud enough. Maybe im wrong about it, maybe im not... I cant really tell :)
I think it's like with many things: Some hundred in such a group don't make any difference, many thousands could.

Quoting: MaokeiI'm still have my doubts about this I never ever get the steam hardware survey anymore if this is what these percentages are based of.
I, too, can't remember the last time I saw the steam survey come up for me. But then, I usually leave Steam running 24x7 and as I recall, it only pops up when you start Steam. *shrug*
Most people are never asked for their voting decision either, nevertheless, the predictions ar enot bad...

With an article about it here, this groupe would grow fastly.

Quoting: EKRboiI'm not a programmer but is it possible that it's not calculating the actual FPS properly due to 3x 1080p monitors?
Very unlikely. (I'm a programmer.)

Saibot Releases Doorways: The Underworld
18 Sep 2014 at 2:26 pm UTC

Quoting: EKRboiI think possibibly I just never gave amnesia long enough for it to get interesting. I only played for about 2 hours.
If the first two hours didn't make it, I don't think the rest will do.
I was very scared before I even met anything actually threatening me.

Thanks for your thoughts about Doorways, I'll take a closer look at it.

Saibot Releases Doorways: The Underworld

Quoting: EKRboiEdit* having second thoughts after reading reviews. I like to have weapons in my horror games, it seems this is along the lines of the amnesia games though, no real weapons just "scares" and "puzzles", I played some of The Dark Descent, but ultimately ended up putting it down and never went back as it ended up getting a little boring to me. anyone who has played these care to chime in?
It's the opposite for me: I was really, really terrified by Amnesia, The Dark Descent - and I loved it.
So after having tried, would you think Doorways is good for me?

Lutris Open Gaming Platform New Release

I think detecting and starting games is the first important things.
I didn't yet take a look at it, but what I would wish for after this is better organization/filtering of games than Steam does.
