I never got very far in the first one due to that stupid Adobe AIR thing. I wonder if it'll actually install now that Proton is a thing.

Edit: According to the compatibility reports page, that's a big no.

The excellent Slay the Spire adds in Steam Workshop support, works well

Quoting: g000hCertainly been getting my money's worth with this game. 260 hours play so far (4 Jan 2019) ... and this is before it got Mod support and "even more" developer content (e.g. new characters). It has been very pleasant for me to see and experience each of the additions to the game since early access (e.g. when the Defect character got revealed).

Prior to "Slay The Spire" I was smitten by FTL: Faster The Light ( and here's the GOG Link )

Not saying that it is of similar level, but I recently began playing indie title "Frost" and this survival rogue-like card game is also scratching a similar itch (i.e. I recommend it too). Frost has a free, playable demo so you can have a try before blowing any cash.

Have you tried Dicey Dungeons? I find it, too, scratches a similar itch with weird emergent combos and general one-more-turn-ness. Although it's very much in development, so while playable and fun it still has a ways to go.

Quoting: BTREJust when I thought I was out, they pull me back in. :D

Just wait until they come out with the next official playable character. And a whole new deck to go with them. The devs said "more coming" so I suspect they've got multiple new characters planned.

Volcanoids, the base-building survival game has a positive Linux update

Quoting: BeamboomImpressive base, but we really do need to see a bit more of the actual gaqmeplay. What's the enemies, what's the danger? What's the goal, what will drive ur forth?

From the previous article (linked in this one):

QuoteSet in the steampunk era, you take on an expedition to a forsaken island that you once called home. But sudden eruptions triggered by mechanical beings turned the wondrous place into an apocalyptic wasteland. In order to survive the island’s natural elements, you have to outsmart these creatures and capture one of their drillships. Use their own technology against them as you upgrade the machinery and reclaim your homeland.

Aren't 505 Games the same ones who reneged on their promise to make a Linux version of Bloodstained? Be sure not to hold your breath.

Open source platformer SuperTux gets its first new stable release in quite some time

Quoting: SlackdogAhhh one of the first games I ever played on Linux! In fact for quite a while along with super tux kart was the ONLY game I played heheh. Good times :D

That's because back then, these were pretty much the only games that ran on Linux at all, haha!

Feels like an eternity ago, doesn't it?

It's still a cute little game.

It is! And the one sliding Tux down a mountain - hehe a lot has sure changed!

I used to play that one. Never got into Super Tux really, although I don't think I was playing as many games in general at the time (and had a Playstation) so I didn't really miss not having PC games much.

Wait, Mosaic is due out this year? That's great news, I've been intrigued ever since the first trailer.

Also, the full release of Slay the Spire is due this month, with some more new content. That should be pretty exciting.

The survival roguelike 'Wayward' recently added some interesting new ways to play

Had my eye on this for a while. Probably won't actually get it for a while yet, if not wait until it's totally out of EA. Got enough other stuff to play in the meantime.

GOG are giving away SOMA, act fast to secure your copy of this great Linux game

Quoting: einherjarThat is the only way I purchase games on GOG - for free :-)

I will consider buying games on GOG, if there is propper Linux support. Until then, Valve gets my money...

I've honestly never been that taken with their storefront in the first place. I find it awkward to use, and until Lutris came along the lack of a launcher where I could keep everything in one place was a turn-off. Not to mention generally having a bad impression of them through their regular social gaffes. So yeah, it's a bunch of things.

The first beta for Lutris 0.5 is out with a refreshed UI and GOG support

I'd love to see that functionality with Itch. I'm more likely to get games from them than GoG at the moment.
