Honestly, the only thing calling to me at the moment on my wishlist is Cozy Grove (Steam Play), mainly because it's 70% off and thus super cheap. Otherwise I might just give this sale a pass.

That's funny. I played a whole bunch of demos over a few days, and *none* of them were on the top played list. Apparently my tastes are non-standard.
My list:
Approximately Up (meh)
Besmirch (interesting)
Burden Street Station (brilliant!)
Clicky Islands (pretty good)
Collector's Cove (not my style)
Dungeons of DUSK (slow pacing and navigation sucks)
Dungeon Sweeper (meh)
Garden Ink (pretty good)
Highreach (crashed)
Helix: Descent N Ascent (very good)
Hozy (fun)
Hypnos (confusing for no good reason)
Looking for Fael (very good)
Moomintroll: Winter's Warmth (very good)
Map Map - A Game About Maps (meh)
Nightfall Café (pretty decent)
Pluto (obtuse, didn't like it)
Shanty Town (very good)
Truckful (didn't recognize my controller)

No Man's Sky Remnant update brings a fancy gravity gun and customizable trucks

Went back and finished it after all. Changing the wheels out for tracks, and then robot legs, added a lot of stability, but it still wasn't enough to stop tossing things out the side here and there, making the 10 minute trip from the last depot into almost twice that, gingerly navigating every little fold in the landscape.
It didn't get any more fun, but at least I now have a nice new spacesuit set for regular playthroughs.

I played a good chunk of it today, and take my advice...don't.
This is an expedition for people who thought driving the Mako was the best part of the Mass Effect series, but didn't think it was nearly frustrating enough. Remnant fixes that problem.
Essentially, imagine driving an open flatbed (this far-flung technological future doesn't include cargo nets, apparently) across a very rough landscape that's riddled with holes you can fit the entire thing into and climbs that are nearly vertical. Occasionally you are attacked by sentinals if you happen to run over the wrong rock. You are tasked with hauling physics objects that are apparently made of rubber from a depot to a disposal facility. Your truck, thanks to an increasingly powerful engine, is also harder to drive gently with. If your cargo jostles too much, it might explode.
Now do this FIVE TIMES. The exact same routine. Oh, and the margins are low, and you can soft-lock yourself if you lose too much cargo because of the exploding thing, and it's easy to lose stuff in the terrain if it bounces out of the truck.
It's bad, y'all. This is probably going to be the first expedition I've failed to complete. Although just driving around isn't too bad, so call that ending on a positive note.

Google's Project Genie experiment allows creating interactive worlds with generative AI

I have every expectation that Genie will turn out to be a giant nothingburger in the end, which will not be adopted in any significant way by game companies save to use as a threat against workers wanting decent wages. Then in a couple of years Google will quietly make it go away and never mention it again.
In terms of functionality I don't expect it to be able to create more than short, inconsistent clips (much like the "top of the line" video generators out there), and it will not fit into *any* existing workflows, requiring great disruption even if it did work.
Executives probably love the idea though.

Firefox will get AI controls to turn it all off
3 Feb 2026 at 2:18 pm UTC Likes: 4
A lot of people *have* been saying there shouldn't be any AI to begin with, by the way. It's a waste of resources and the very definition of bloat. Even if "AI" worked as heavily advertised (it doesn't), it's extra material stuffed into the browser for little practical purpose. At most, they could make a framework for "AI" extensions if people really want them, and leave it to the user to add if they really want it. I guarantee most wouldn't.

Quoting: questioner9It shows they caved to an immediate and vocal response from a good chunk of their core audience, that is. From their own statements, it's clear they hadn't even considered that anyone would *want* to turn off the "AI" "features" they shoved in there for no good reason (Microsoft telling them they'd donate more if they did it is not a good reason).Quoting: CyborgZetaAbsolutely, it's absurd to suppose they are going to develop new features and then make them all disabled by default for everyone.Quoting: hardpenguinHow about you disable them by default, Mozilla, and have people unleash AI at their own peril -_-They're providing the controls to turn it off, or turn it back on. What does it matter whether AI is already enabled by default?
This is dumb. So dumb.
I'm sorry, this just sounds a little silly to me. People, myself included, wanted the option to turn the AI features off. Alright, that's what they're doing. Now you insist it's off by default. Let's say they did that too, would you just turn around and say, "Well, there shouldn't be any AI to begin with!"
They are providing a feature for those who want to disable all current and future AI features to do so with one click. It ought to be welcomed. I'd be surprised if any other mainstream browser follows their lead on this. It shows they know AI is a divisive issue and want to accommodate all users.
