Not to trash Matrix but uh, it's not even remotely a realistic alternative. My personal opinion of course.

Matrix is definitely not a 1to1 alternative to Discord, but for some it may work.

Anyway, we should not discourage people from exploring alternatives. Use whatever open platform, be it Matrix, IRC, XMPP, Stoat... As long as its not a dystopian silo like Discord.

The fighting among open chat protocols is embarrassing and should stop. We need to encourage to test things out for people to find as their new chatrooms.
