EA expanding EA Anti-Cheat - bad news for Steam Deck / Linux
29 Sep 2023 at 11:26 am UTC

Maybe Valve could use some of the boatloads of cash they have to incentivize publishers and studios to support Linux and Steam Deck. Either helping out with the anti cheat development or actively buying some companies to fix the problem.

I feel bad for the developer, he just recently spent a lot of time and effort to switch engine to Unity, getting done just before the recent shit show.

Apparently he will not use it again (from Reddit AMA): https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/16rsuh0/comment/k2557sm/?context=3 [External Link]

Plasma 6 optimized for Wayland gaming, plus compositor crash recovery

Another blog post from Graham also goes over what's really going on with Wayland, that's worth a read, giving a bit of a quick history lesson and going into where things stand right now including some issues it has noting that KDE, Valve and Blue Systems have been funding work to improve various areas.
This blog post was a great read. The future looks bright for Wayland, finally. Does someone know if there still are issues with nvidia on Wayland or has that been sorted out?

DREAMM emulator for classic LucasArts games v2.1 out with Linux support

Quoting: GeamanduraI don't get it. If it's just a "low level emulation", then why not just use Dosbox instead, which is a low level emulation? It would sound that this project only implements the subset of Dosbox which is needed at runtime by these games.
For one thing this supports Windows games.

Quoting: slaapliedjeWould be nice if either Gog or Steam could release that bundle with all the extensions and such for easier install in Linux.
That would be the best. In the meantime we can use Luxtorpeda for really easy installation if we own it on Steam.
Anyone try this out on the Steam Deck?
I haven’t tried it for this game yet. Liam did try it for Morrowind and wrote about it here: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2022/03/steam-deck-using-luxtorpeda-for-morrowind-warzone-2100-and-x-com/
