Volition say it's too early to tell if Agents of Mayhem will come to Linux

Quoting: titiThe better question on this early state is if the developers have cross plattform development in mind !
They're developing for PS4, xbone and Windows so yes, they do. And this isn't the first cross-platform game they've done, they know what's involved. I think it's always better to ask if Linux is specifically one of the target platforms, just like Liam did.

Quoting: EhvisThese days an interesting question would be whether the game is developed primarily in Vulkan. Or even DX12. Both should make the porting effort a whole lot easier.
There's probably a strong chance they're using a version of the same in-house engine that their later SR games ran on. They could be adding a Vulkan backend though, who knows.

According to Volition the game is also part of the Saints Row universe apparently, even though it's not a sequel. I for one would love to play it on Linux.

XCavalypse, clean up a zombie apocalypse with an excavator now on Linux

Aww, I thought it would be about actually cleaning up the city afterwards, maybe learning about the event in the process like the topic led me to believe/hope, not repetitive zombie-slaughter with heavy machinery. This could have been an interesting and innovative mix of exploration and excavator simulation. Of course I wouldn't have minded if there was some aftermath-related action involved, like a bit of running from zombie stragglers, but this is just... meh.

The "negative hype train" has never made me think I should be using Windows, but maybe I'm just not the hype-swallowing type. Sure, a large part of the game-consuming public is interested solely in games, not operating systems, and will play on whatever platform gives them the means to play whatever they want. And that's completely understandable. It's perfectly natural to think in black and white, but personally I like the shades between these absolutes of "everything" and "nothing" just fine. Settling for "enough" is not a sign of weakness, contrary to common belief and the holy tenets of consumerism.

Somehow I get the feeling that the doom-and-gloom types among us tend to be people who still spend a lot of time playing games on Windows and are trying to convince the rest of us that they have no real choice, or maybe that their choice is the right one and that the rest of us should see how justified they are in doing so, because "oh noes, if they don't agree with everything I say and do as I do they must think they're better than me!". Welp, who cares. Back to work.

Salt and Sanctuary, a stylish 2D action RPG is now in Beta for Linux gamers

I have total confidence in Mr. Lee's porting skills, and this seems like something I might enjoy. Won't buy a beta but I'll keep a close eye on the game.

Quoting: HadBabitsI do have a bug (which I reported!) where setting the game in borderless or windowed makes a small window that's cropped. However, Flibit doesn't seem to have this issue, so it could be something specific to my set up?
Something to do with your window manager, seeing as the problem is related to windowing? Maybe install and test with one of the light alternatives like xfwm, awesome or one of the *boxes?

Quoting: maodzedunUntil the terrible performance difference is fixed, they can port the entire Steam library to Linux and it still won't matter.
You mean it won't matter to so called hardcore gamers, but it will matter to those of us who won't consider gaming on Windows at all. As long as there's plenty to play, with acceptable performance on reasonable hardware, I don't really care how it runs on other platforms.

Besides, there's no shortage of games on Linux for those of us who don't have the time or the budget for every single hit game out there. And the future looks bright through my penguin-shaped eyewear. Time (and Vulkan) will level the playing field, and everyone shall live happily ever after.

Quoting: c3224Guys, idiots who use Python, Pearl, C#(mono), Java, Javascript (or any other scripting language except Lua) etc. cant make good software or use complex/advanced stuff like Vulkan, OGL, Posix etc., they are just too stupid and/or lazy, end of story.
Hehe, funny stuff. :D
