Quoting: MGOidI'm praying to God that all of the others big names that will launch in the near future, like Grid, Batman or Witcher 3.AFAIK Grid and Batman are already confirmed to be native. No idea if anything's been officially confirmed about W3 despite Valve's teasing. Besides, I very much doubt VP programmers are incompetent. Unless you think wine developers are incompetent as long as wine isn't perfect. The performance "penalty" is just the price of wrapping instead of actually porting, and this decision wasn't made by VP.

I'd love it if the controller can comfortably replace the keyboard/mouse combo on the living room sofa even for some of the use cases. That's what Valve tells us but I won't buy anything until I see actual tests from unbiased reviewers. I have no interest in Steam Link or the pre-built Steam Machines though.
Quoting: kalinIt's seems Bulgaria is also excluded. It's probably available only for USA Canada and England as always. Not quite. Seems to be available in most Western European and Nordic countries at least.

Quoting: Mountain ManSo the fact that the Ubuntu and Debian home pages don't say one word about Linux means that they don't care about Linux as a whole?Debian also has a version with the FreeBSD kernel. You can't really call the whole distro Debian Linux or something like that if the Linux part is optional. I think that's probably why they dropped Linux from the front page. Ubuntu did it purely for business reasons though, just like Valve.

Quoting: Mountain ManI still don't have a real clear idea about what "gamergate" is or why I should care.Don't worry. Half the people actively involved in the debate don't seem to have any idea either. Some of them work under the premise that it's all about ethics in games journalism, and for others it's about gender equality among gamers. Personally I'd be happy if we kept GOL free of politics. Google will tell you everything you want to know and more.

Terminal Velocity was awesome back in the day. I never really got into Descent or it's sequels, but this I played quite a lot. Sadly I bet the game has not aged well.
Logitech F310 Gamepad Review On Linux

I bought mine when I built my Linux gaming box in the living room more than a year ago, and I can't say I've had any regrets. Although it does sound like there's something tiny rattling loose inside the controller if I shake it and the right trigger has made a rather worrying grindy sound a couple of times. Also I'd argue the a, b, x and y buttons are a bit noisy, which can be slightly annoying in games that require button mashing. Then again, I'm probably more sensitive than most to background noise.
To the kb/mouse advocates: Any tips on playing without a controller sitting on a sofa in front of the tv without killing either my back - if the kb/mouse are on the coffee table - or my shoulders and arms - if I try to keep 'em on my lap or beside me on the sofa. This wouldn't have been a problem a few years back, but now I've reached the point where only pensioners call me young and decades of servitude to our computer overlords has proved detrimental to my physical well-being.

Quoting: liamdaweI’m not sure if it’s due to being brand new or not, but the triggers feel really quite stiff. It’s not a big issue though, as they are still perfectly usable, but I do hope they become a little less stiff over time, with enough use they might, so I will just have to keep an eye on it.Yeah, my fingers ached like crazy when the controller was new, but either my fingers got used to the "exercise" (never really had a controller before) or the triggers loosened up in a few weeks. Can't say which.

PS: fftest shows support for the effects here as well despite my controller's lack of motors. As expected, nothing happens when I select a test to run.
PPS: Everyone else, sorry about going off topic... once again.

Quoting: dubigrasuWell, I don't know about your particular controller, but this one has force-feedback capabilities and two motors. There must be different versions of the F310 then. Even Logitech's website or my copy of the manual have no mention of this feature. As I wrote before, the lack of force feedback was the only real difference to the more expensive F510 back when I bought mine. Maybe they simply sell the F510 rebranded as F310 now, and it was the old F310 that was discontinued instead? If they did, I'm glad I got one without the annoying vibrators. Useless extra weight I'd disable anyway.
As you can see above both Strong and Weak Rumble can be played. When certain effects are not available it simply says: No such effects.

Quoting: dubigrasuYour point being what exactly? The controller doesn't actually vibrate unless it has a force feedback motor to produce the vibration. And my F310 definitely has none. There used to be the wired Logitech F510 that had ff though (seems to be discontinued), and the wireless F710 sports dual motors for double the pleasure.root@steamos:/home/steam/Desktop# fftest /dev/input/event8
Force feedback test program.
