Borderlands: The Pre-sequel Looks Like It May Come To Linux (UPDATED)

dont know about this one.. sure im happy that it will (if it does) support linux but the very same engine, user interface and (horrible!) menus again? if this is just borderlands2 with new content i might just skip it. for some reason when im done with a game i cannot simply enjoy the successor if it doesnt look and feel all new.
stopped playing after 30 minutes of fallout: new vegas because it was all fallout3 again and had a very hard time to motivate myself playing the borderlands2 dlc campaigns after finishing the original game. if the coop gameplay is good again and they do something about that piece of crap that is the inventory (borderlands 1 was way ahead here) then i might still fall for it.. but my first impression is this: meh D:

i really like the mixture of classic spaceshooter pixelgraphics and fancy explosions/particles. if the font rendering is a lot clearer now i wonder how its been before, because its still blurred and hard to read. i think some of that has to stay to fit the graphicsstyle, but some improvements to font and general HUD wouldnt hurt, namely:
a) dont use darkblue as font if the space is black already, theres little contrast. thats fine for most of the hud but important stuff should stand out with a brighter tone. especially targetship-name, targetdistance, targetbrackets, crosshair.
b) get rid of redundant information. why would anyone need a 5 digit decimal place in the target distance. why does my hud has colorful indications for my entire shipparts but not even an indicator in which direction my not-on-screen target is
gotta say tho i totally love the menu/shipyard style & music. the field of view is way to low for me as i feel like looking through a scope while flying but other than that this game has tons of potential in my eyes, kudos!

i must wonder tho.. with almost every steamforum post beeing related to random gamebreaking bugs and reports that the game is next to not playable because at some point something crucial will just stop working, why would they release the 1.0 version now.
with my first pc game ever beeing sid meyers pirates! i would love to buy this game, but the lot of bad reviews and negative forum threads keep me from doing so

not really "this year" but i really like the nonAAA co-op titles that let me play campaigns together with a friend. forced, hammerwatch, starbound, thrine2 were all neither expensive nor too time consuming and a great bit of fun.

dat youtube video atleast shows me im not alone with my witcher2 experience. loved witcher1, really wished i could love witcher2 aswell and the story and all really makes me wanna play it.. but i just cannot force myself to bear that horrible combatsystem, laggy controls and movement.
as a result i stopped playing even before that first boss sequence and instead watched a letsplay (which i enjoyed more than playing myself..)

Watch The Unreal Tournament Developers Play Team Deathmatch

as much as i like seeing them beeing so motivated about their project and the promised linux support i cannot see this going anywhere still. maybe i should point out that im 30 and basically grew up with playing unreal tournament and especially quake3. so instead of beeing the typical console-CoDisCool-Kid i am actually part of the easiest to convince targetgroup for this project.
i dont think the arena fps genre is bound to be dead, instead i believe that every attempt to it in the last 10 years or so was totally lacking what modern multiplayer games are all about. the prolly best try was quakelive which attracted many new players in the openbeta / early release stages due to accessability (install browser plugin, play) free2play (the real one, where you still get 100% content) and it still most players stopped playing it after some time because of various but obvious reasons (bad matchmaking, no cheat protection, very bad noob protection, no laddersystem, no longterm strategie nor investment by the developer).
i feel like what we have here is another team of people that tries to bring back a game from the old time, relying on the powerful name of a franchise that will be thrown on the market at a state where most work is done to fancy graphics and leveldesign. what it will lack is:
a) the fulfilling and easy to access multiplayer experience that makes you have a good time even as a noob of say Hearthstone or Dota. these games are neither original nor good looking, but when you play them you really feel the work that has been put into delivering a non frustrating pvp expirience.
b) the financial and persistent power of a bigger company that aims for a longterm investment and is willing to fund tournaments, cups, advertisment and whatnot to get the machine going. yes, it may be possible to create a successful multiplayer title without that still, but then everything else about the game has to be perfect
with that beeing said i still wish them best luck. personally i'd wished that this was another quake game instead of ut (because i dislike the slow clumsy movement) but whatever :D

Dino D-Day Source Engine Powered Nazi & Dinosaurs Game Will Come To Linux

id usually not do this but.. stay away from this one. its rubbish.
you may think when you see this "nazi dinosaurs vs the allies" oh
that sounds like some fun...
its a little partygag that has very poor gameplay. imagine left4dead versus
and natural selection stripped down to the bare minimums, awkyard collision,
mouse input, poor maps in like their early alpha stages and you got this game.
as a free sourcemod this would be an "ok" download just to experience steering
a dinosaur for once (not satisfying tho cuz badly done). but paying money, let
alone 20€? nope, not worth it at all.
on another note i find it kinda questionable that the nazis are all cool here
and everyone wants to be them while the allies are boring as f***

Valve Has Greenlit 36 More Linux Games For Steam

deer god looks very atmospheric. not really like a game that will bring long term motivation or advanced gameplay but a nice little novelle with style.

Quoting: NyamiouInSomnia RPG [External Link]insomnia looks like its borrowing almost the entire design of fallout 1/2, paired with some new gameplay. beeing a big fan of the earlier fallout games im ok with that tho and looking forward to this a lot. question is how the shoulder perspective gameplay will work out in the end, having my doubts there.
