Not sure if I'll like it or not. Saw there was a demo so I'm going to try it out tonight.
The demo is the windows version but does work if you remove all of the videos from:

I'm skeptical about it being soon after release.
They still haven't released the last two patches from over two months ago (presumably because they were busy porting Total War: Troy over to the Mac).
With the DLC only two weeks away, I just don't see it happening.
Also, I'm a bit annoyed with the slow updates because there have been so many game breaking bugs and we Linux users have been stuck with them for months on end.
I know part of this is Creative Assembly's fault but when you spend $60 for a game plus that much on DLCs it would be nice if it worked right...

The trailer didn't sell me on this but I do like the environment so I think I'll pick this up anyways.

They refuse to support Linux at my current job.

Quoting: LinasThere is a huge resistance to Linux adoption in workspace IT support departments. Most places I have seen it's either completely forbidden to run Linux on your work machine or "don't ask, don't tell" kind of situation where you get zero support if something goes wrong. Software is bought and deployed without any consideration for Linux compatibility making it a minefield to navigate through as a Linux user. My direct boss literally pretends not to know that I run Linux, saying that I run "a more exotic kind of setup" if asked by the IT guys. :grin:I remember at my last job I had to ask them to flip on Linux support for the Cisco VPN. They didn't want to right away but I talked them into it.

Quoting: ShmerlWell, picking Nvidia for graphics is a major no go for a Linux laptop. Pretty bad move on their part.Their hardware and drivers are not that great in my experience. The last AMD graphics card I bought was used for a month and then replaced with nVidia again. Maybe in a few years I'll look at them again but for now I'm sticking with nVidia under Linux.
Let them make a proper AMD laptop.

I gave up on snaps. They look awful on a 4k monitor, are slow to start up, and take up way too much space.

Quoting: LinuxwarperI get the survey on Linux all the time. I'd say once every 3-4 months. It would probably be more but I don't always open it on the first of the month.Quoting: Sojiro84Well, this week I finally got a steam survey. The last time I got one, I was still on Windows. So now finally, since November 2018, I am also counted as a Linux user.I recently logged into Steam on two PCs. Both Linux, and I got the survey on both of them. Either on same day or a day apart, I don't remember.
Valve really should just sent out a survey for once to all active users. That way we get a proper look.

Most people that I know that fit into the mold you describe above don't have any interest in Linux. They just want the most software available to them.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyYeah I don't fit into that either. I've been using it since the mandrake days in '94. I've used it this long because I like how open it is. My parents are not very technical and have used it for 15 years without a single issue.Quoting: iiariSo I believe the Linux desktop future is gunning for the makers, enthusiasts, gamers, and tinkerers who like to explore who have always been fueling Linux. I'm still surprised how many people who fit that description haven't tried Linux yet, and of those I've seen who switch to Linux and keep it long term tend to be from that group.Just for the record, I would like to note that I am a counterexample. I'm an artsie and at most a casual gamer, and to the extent I am a gamer it's mostly strategy, no twitch. I'm neither a tinkerer nor a maker; I love that stuff in theory but never seem to get around to it in practice. And yet I've been on Linux most of the time since early Mandrake days.
I also don't see that there's a massive overlap between gamers and those other categories you list.
