I still remember seeing Quake in a game store in 1999.

Before Steam it was very difficult to get games running under Wine. I remember breaking my system many times, especially in the early 2000s, trying to compile the right libraries and still not being able to get most games working right.

Cedega existed to try and make it easier to run Games (and software but that was an even worse experience) and even that only worked slightly better than manually trying to get games working.

In the end, I mostly just played Blizzard games because those were the ones that worked mostly out of the box with Wine.

It is really impressive today that I can play just about any game I want without having to do anything to make it work under Linux.

Quoting: KohlyKohlI was playing Warcraft III in 2002 with Wine and World of Warcraft in 2004. I think it has come a long way, though, it was already a great project even in the early 2000s.
WoW without DXVK still looks kind of funny , even these days
Hopefully with the next cycle they can improve their default rendering. Games like Mafia 3 are pitch black :)
I haven't played since 2005 but back then you would use the OpenGL version and not DirectX. I thought it looked right but I didn't have Windows to compare it to.

Quoting: syylkDo you remember when we were barely able to run Wordpad on WINE?

What a journey it has been...

Quoting: BotonoskiI was very certain they weren't going to do this, so many companies just flippantly make e-waste without so much as a second thought. I am glad they are taking this step, but worried the motives behind doing such a thing are... Lackluster, likely PR motivated rather than an actual intention to reduce waste.
Probably one or a few very dedicated developers spending some of their 20% time [External Link] on this.
Google doesn't have 20% time anymore (Stated in your link).

I'd like to see an RTS game by Value and not another FPS.

Valve are finally fixing buying games on Steam Deck that need a pop-up

PayPal in the US has this popup. Like others have said, I didn't notice this either because the store on the Deck is a terrible user experience, so I only use my Desktop to buy from there.

Quoting: TuxeeAn add-on for add-on for an add-on. Or actually an add-on for two other add-ons...

This is getting out of hand, kinda.
I stopped buying cases years ago and all I've done is save money.

Quoting: M@GOidThis was one of my major grips with their chassis. Since motherboard deaths are the major contributor of trowing out a entire chassis, for those bespoke models, this will increase the reparability tremendously.

My other grip with them is the absence of frontal output. USB, audio, a real reset button. Those are important things that is inexcusable for not be present in expensive systems like those they sell.
The USB and audio in the back only is a pain for sure. There is no need for a reset button at all though.

Boot video works for me with AMD. The sound didn't play in the video the first time I started it up. I tried it again and the sound worked the second time.
