Quoting: KohlyKohlI was pleasantly surprised when the snap updated yesterday.
Quoting: Cyba.CowboyIs that the snap from Ubuntu Software? I'm still on Alpha 22...
I was mistaken, it was the flatpak version: https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.play0ad.zeroad [External Link]

Quoting: Cyba.CowboyAlso, I have a question - with my NVIDIA laptop, is there any (graphical/performance) benefit over using one version (snap or "regular" installation) over the other?
Being that it just packages the libraries I don't see why it would.

I could see startup taking longer as all of the libraries would need to be loaded into memory. With a traditional setup, shared libraries can exist in memory already which helps with load time.

I was pleasantly surprised when the snap updated yesterday. Didn't see any community mods yet but I expect it won't be long before a few show up.

Quoting: SkyleadI hope they fix streaming steam games from a linux host. It almost always grabs the wrong monitor for me (dual 1080p) or tries to launch the game spread across both monitors on the host when I'm using the steam link. :/ this is not an issue with a windows host and leads to me booting my windows partition to play couch coop games that would otherwise be logging time on the linux install instead of the windows binary.
You should be able to just disable the monitor you don't need. Seems like a simpler solution than booting into Windows.

cute... so what does it use to determine minimum system requirements?
Looking at the screenshot, it is just saying that your distribution is not supported.

Quoting: schwissigLet us not forget Heroes of Newerth, which they also ditched. At least they sold that game to Frostburn Studios, I think. Heroes of Newerth still has a pretty good player base, last time I checked. I like it better than DOTA 2, for sure.
To be fair, they sold Heroes of Newerth to focus on Strife and some other game (Savage remake?).

This game has more potential than Strife.

At this point, one has to wonder if they can afford to ditch two games in a row.

For all the hate they received for Strife, they seem to be listening to feedback more than they have in the past.

I personally enjoy this game and I hope it takes off.

Quoting: KohlyKohlHopefully this will run well with only 6GB. I don't feel like paying $100 to upgrade my ram.
Depending on your configuration, you might be able add 4 GB for ~30 bucks or 2 GB for ~15.
I've been shopping around and the cheapest I could find for my 6 year old motherboard is $100 for 8GB.

Almost makes me want to put together a new $300 computer, with much better specs, at those prices.
