Bazzite Linux 44 lands for desktop gamers and it's a big release
30 Apr 2026 at 9:05 am UTC

Quoting: ChrisznixHow is everyday life with bazzite? I installed it on one of my kids' laptop (Thinkpad X260) and it my first impressions were quite nice. I wonder if this could be a good daily driver. I really don´t have any experience with immutable systems, though.
Very easy to use, (almost*) no nonsense distribution if you aren't a power user / developer. If you *are* one then it gives you specific tools to get the job done so there is an adaptation process coming from non atomic distros.

* a developer added drivers for fan control on my desktop, then removed it due to safety concerns then the dev was dismissed by the team and I still don't have fan control lol

New brew installer for Sunshine via ujust. Sunshine is no longer preinstalled in-image.
Wow this could be a breakage for me at the wrong time. I sometimes remote to my desktop and when I do so I don't have physical access, plus Bazzite updates automatically applying changes on reboot and I use Wake on Lan to turn the desktop on remotely.

Denuvo DRM reportedly fully cracked open, 2K apparently fights back with online checks

Quoting: doragasuUnfortunately there's a growing probability of Denuvo moving to kernel level DRM. And if that happens, it's game over for Linux users. Not a problem specifically for me, I don't buy games with Denuvo DRM, but for the platform itself, it might be a big hit.
Do you have a source? Hope this doesn't happen

Sentinel is an achievement watcher for non-Steam games on Linux
28 Apr 2026 at 7:07 pm UTC Likes: 2

Quoting: EWGWould it be technically possible to externally have achivements if a game didn't have any to begin with?
It'd be cool for active communities to nominate and vote on player submitted achivements.

Is there any kind of standardized, open protocol for achivements?
Imagine if indie devs could simply build a small structute to talk to Sentinel and the community handles what is an achivement, the SS of it or other graphic representation or reward, name of it, and guides to accomplishing them.

No idea if any of that is doable in any capacity but, those might be really interesting next steps to expand Sentinel.

That said, I only pay so much attention to achivements to begin with but, it is nice getting them. I am curious to see what's available and make some amount of effort on obtaining what I think I can.

Framework Laptop 13 Pro revealed with major changes and great Linux support
21 Apr 2026 at 7:17 pm UTC Likes: 1

I went desktop route because I wanted neither a mac, nor a heavy brick nor an expensive but weak (especially in GPU) laptop. I am hyped for a laptop for the first time. Price / performance is not great as usual for framework but they are putting something unique and valuable on the table this time with battery life.

AND TOUCHSCREEN TOO??

Quoting: hardpenguinThis is insane, impractical, and unenforceable under any normal circumstances. What, we want to prevent minors from using technology now? For what purpose? It doesn't make any sense at all.
For what purpose once can speculate, all we know is that this is due to lobbying from Meta who have spent over $2bn on lobbying efforts for this specifically.

Sentinel is an achievement watcher for non-Steam games on Linux

Quoting: Axel Ekholm Cool i guess but i still don't get why you should care about achievements. I care about having fun playing a game, not having achievement.
Sometimes you can unlock achievements without knowing, a friend told me a weird thing I bothered doing was an achievement in Outer Wilds but I have no idea because I don't own the game on Steam. If I had an achievement while playing I would be delighted, kind of a seal of approval I did not waste my time doing something stupid. I'm saying "I did not waste my time" because I purchased the game in August or September and still couldn't beat it lol.

If you finished Outer Wilds:
Spoiler, click me
I landed on the Sun Station without knowing what it is, that is an achievement on Steam. I also jetpacked my way to black hole station with some parkour but that isn't an achievement I guess

Steam Beta adds Remote Downloads Management
3 Apr 2026 at 11:14 am UTC

Quoting: PyronickThis new remote download feature in the Steam Beta looks incredibly useful, but it honestly just makes me wish we could do the exact same thing directly through steamcmd remotely.

Being able to manage this on a TTY via SSH, or through a web interface like Cockpit, would be a game-changer. Even better would be an accessible CLI structure so we could easily wrap our own DIY bash/Python scripts or a custom web dashboard around it.
I don't recall how exactly but I can start downloads on steam's website
