Quoting: CaldathrasI wonder, is this the first example of a commercial flatpak?

(I don't do flatpak, so I don't know...)
Official Minecraft launcher also has a flatpak

KDE Plasma 6.6 will finally stop the system sleeping when gaming with a controller

Quoting: BrokattIt may be something unique for Steam Controller? I will post a pic when I get home. It's similar to the one @mr-victory linked to.
When looking for a post with a pic, I did come across a post about the warning appearing with a Steam controller.

I have that prompt if I attempt to use KDE Connect's remote input. Never with a controller tho. Here is a pic

Valve amended the Steam survey for December 2025 - Linux actually hit another all-time high

Quoting: PhlebiacmacOS usage declined for years
I wish to assume this is because macOS users use Heroic Games Launcher or Crossover to play Windows games with Windows version of Steam but too few people bother with that. macOS is a minority platform like us so I'd rather see them strong instead of cheering when Linux takes over Macs.
sent from my MacBook running Linux😁

Quoting: sarmadThe GabeCube's target audience is mostly Steam Deck owners who want to continue their gaming session on TVs with better resolution and frame rate, and those won't bother with anti-cheat because they'll mostly be running the same games that run on the Deck.
Is that the only possible audience? Such people would be satisfied no doubt however I expect buyers to play different games on the cube, F2P FPS or retail AAA games more often while on Deck the most popular game was Vampire Survivors for months with many other indies in the mix.
Perhaps DOA was a strong word, the better way to put it would be "many people would refund it". Which I believe can create a negative impression and push away potential new buyers but yeah I was pessimistic.
I'm partly this pessimistic because where I live the go-to game most people play together is EA FC (formerly FIFA), there are even "PlayStation cafes" where people meet up and play EA FC. The cafes have PS4/5 with a selection of games but typically everyone plays EA FC, which doesn't work on Linux. But the Deck is not even sold in my country sooo...

I feel that the GabeCube *ahem* Steam Machine will be DOA due to anti cheat, I hope to be proven wrong but Windows on ARM laptops being frequently returned item on Amazon doesn't give me confidence, those laptops' game compatibility issues are not that different from ours... the advantage Deck had was being a handheld so who cares if an fps doesn't work.

NVIDIA announce a native Linux app for GeForce NOW

Quoting: Cyba.CowboyI did look at this for a while, because most of my online gaming is via my PlayStation 5 and I'd rather stick to my Steam Deck... But NVVIDIA GeForce NOW is super expensive here in Australia, so I simply couldn't justify it.
You can stream your PS5 to Deck, look up Chiaki-deck

Now if only there was a similar solution for the PS3...

Quoting: clatterfordslimWould love to get Cachy OS's tuned Kernels going though. Games would flow better.
Afaik CachyOS optimizations or any optimization for that matter can backfire and reduce perf depending on situation. That's partly why bazzite doesn't use optimized kernels. So I don't bother with custom kernels typically

Quoting: XpanderThat being said, I honestly don't know what to suggest to new users these days.
Me neither, I typically suggest bazzite however bazzite being unique in a lot of things makes you dependent on their docs & community. If you look up something for Linux, chances are what you find won't work on Bazzite. Doubly so when asking LLMs (I rarely do that but plenty of people use them often)

My actual daily driver runs Arch and I'm afraid of even shutting it down, but I can't move it to another distro either.

We are in a mess of wayland transition also. Lots of edge cases where things are buggy on wayland when it comes to gaming and at the same time x11 has its own quirks. So we basically have 2 "broken" systems.
Yep I suffer from that. I can't turn off vsync for moonlight on wayland and have extra latency, but I can't use my beloved touchpad gestures on X11.
