AMD say the Steam Machine is "on track" for an early 2026 release

Quoting: SzkodnixI'm still worried about the price. Even the most pessimistic scenario of $1,000 is becoming less and less realistic option.
They claimed "mid range pc" pricing ... which is totally fine by me for what it is. So as long as they stick to that, I'm all good.

Firefox will get AI controls to turn it all off

I'll never use vanilla ff again because of mozilla's disastrous management decisions, but this at least I like because I *think* it'll make it easier for the various forks like zen / libre / etc to just disable remove all this bullshit?

Story-heavy tactical CRPG 'ATOM RPG 2' announced

Quoting: ExpalphalogAtom just didn't hit for me and I don't know why. I love tactical CRPGs. I love the old Fallout games. I love the first two Wasteland games (haven't gotten around to trying 3 yet). I played Atom for around 23 hours and then quit though, which is very rare for me. Usually I either abandon games within the first 3 hours or I play them all the way through barring game-breaking bugs.
You gotta give #3 a go! It's SOOOO GOOD. I didn't like the overworld traversal all that much, but EVERYTHING else is so well done. The humor is great, and it's got such a good power creep. Mid-game when your builds finally start shining it's just crazy fun to unleash all hell in random encounters.

Absolutely love the Atom Team devs ...! So this is instawishlist. Thanks for the recommendation!

I loved Trudograd, and right now waiting on the 1.1 to play Swordhaven. It's VERY difficult to not fire it up right now and get started though.

GOG now using AI generated images on their store

Not only is it AI garboslop, it doesn't even MAKE SENSE for them to use...? I don't even understand how this was even put up on their site at all? A snes console? For a pc gaming platform? An ancient 4x3 crt tv? Someone on a couch staring at the back of a tv?

None of it even makes sense, even if you can (I can't) get past the use of AI. So ..... wtf is even happening over at the gog braintrust? Nothing?

The modular Linux handheld Mecha Comet is up on Kickstarter
28 Jan 2026 at 2:30 pm UTC

This looks amazing!

but ... has a bunch of red flags. Kickstarter being the biggest. I have been following the Pilet device for forever now as well ( https://soulscircuit.com/pilet [External Link] ) but it seems to be stuck in kickstarter hell as the website still says "in development" and not released, but the kickstarter says it was to be delivered 7 months ago. So who knows.

Basically this Meceha device LOOKS amazing, but will be a wait-and-see ... Thanks for the recommendation!
