Want to avoid AI gen on Steam? This browser userscript might save your day

I love it! What're the odds steam incorporates something like this into it's own app native? I would hope so, but there maybe some perverse incentive structure for them to not do it?

Gaijin Entertainment announced EdenSpark, an open source "AI-assisted" platform for making games

yeah .... I REALLY am not looking forward to 2026 being the year of (like scaine said) deluge of ai slop games. It's already difficult enough for both gamers and developers with the various discovery algorithms. Now with this shittastic ai fuckery there will be "developers" pumping out hundreds of games with zero effort and even if they make a single sale for $5 it'll be worth it to them.

... sadness ...

My only hope is that when the bubble bursts and all these companies have to actually start charging real cash to use their generators, it'll be too expensive for these slop-mills to use.

DOOM: The Dark Ages gets a major performance upgrade for handhelds - now Steam Deck Verified

Oh wow, you really think that's on purpose? I thought it was just a bug. If valve is allowing publishers to break their store links ON PURPOSE, that's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy worse than it just being a bug.

whoa ...

I also had a blast this year playing through Avowed which is a ue5 game and had absolutely zero stuttering or other performance issues. It looked and played amazingly.

edit: side note ... the steam app itself is really shitting the bed recently isn't it? The other day my next fest page was completely screwed up and nonsensical, now today clicking the link on a dev is completely broken! If you go to the store page for Outer Worlds 1 and click on Obsidian as the dev, it takes you to the completely wrong place ... It goes to Private Division instead. I thought I was going crazy for a minute forgetting who even developed Avowed. But nope, store is just broken.

Many developers leave GZDoom due to leader conflicts and fork it into UZDoom

This whole thing reminds me of the openoffice/libreoffice split all those years ago. I remember at the time going "whoa, this is a huge deal" and not being sure how it would all work out.

Now, a bunch of years later, libreoffice is THE defacto gold standard, it's used and liked (mostly lol) everywhere, and I haven't even heard of openoffice in an eternity. I did just now look it up, but it looks like abandonware. Apparently Apache runs it? But it hasn't been updated in two years.

This is wonderful news! I'm glad the team decided to make positive moves and get away from the ai-garbage-slop and a dickhead team lead.

The regular zdoom page still tells people to go download gzdoom, but I'm hopeful over time they'll change that recommendation or at least add uzdoom.

@Purple Library Guy ... huh, I didn't think of the font stuff. And he does a lot of document work currently in office365. Thankfully, the company he freelances for the most has already told everyone they're ending their subscriptions to o365 at the end of the year and they expect everyone to use LibreOffice from then on out and whatever file syncing/sharing service they want. So he was already planning on moving off of office, BUT that is a really good point on fonts. Damn. Thank you though for mentioning it because now I can get in front of that problem!

yeah super weird - I mostly play rpg's. Probably like 90%+ of the time. There were 0 references or recommendations for rpgs in my next fest home page. LOL steam what happened, have one too many last night and just phoned it in?
