With a Nintendo Switch 2 on the way, I hope Valve make a Steam Deck 2

Hopes... proper jump in hardware, not undervolted laptop APU/SoC; proper world wide and average (big) electronic store release and availability; not targeting enthusiast and people with no sense and too much cash to burn... not many can replace hardware every 3 year or less (or get free samples), a lots beyond 5 or even 8 year mark.

Quoting: PyrateFurthermore, people asking for Deck 2 to run current games... do you guys want to throw $1K or more on your handhelds?Couple to few time that, top of the line struggling with current release "quality" and "optimization" way to often.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyOne thing to keep in mind is, I bet a lot of those characters are not just copyrighted, but trademarked. And the thing about trademarks is, if you don't maintain them by stopping people from using them, you can lose them. This can push companies to behaviours even more annoying than they would instinctively do on their own.Fan art and parodies, prise and criticism [insert TM here] not alowed... got it...
Embracer Group splitting into three companies

"OK" ones - will parcel off.
"good" ones - for keeping.
Or something on those lines...

Quoting: stormtuxWhen a restructuring company splits in two it is usually because they want to keep the "good" parts and put the "bad" parts in a "bad company" that can be left to die. This is a little different, why 3 companies? The "AAA" company is probably the profitable one, the one they plan to keep milking. But the other two? Two different levels of risk of investment?"bad" ones - will leave to wither and die.

Quoting: DanielzThey recently updated Skyrim with some steam deck improvements in late 2023. It broke all of the modpacks I used for months, so if you are interested in playing modded fallout in the next few months, you might want to setup the mod pack now, and disable automatic updates until your mods are back up to date.Steam deck "updates"... things like Creation Club exists or just Bugthesda.

- bipedal anime/cartoon/children book cat, done multiple times before Pokemon creator was even born.
- ogre in full tiger suit? stylized golem?
...just make any cartoonish style real/phantasy creature or thing and will "infringer" one of 1000+ Pokemon. No doubt, would find some sport team mascot looking like some Pokemon, conceived years or decades before Pokemon game... just wearing teams attire/logo.

Prison Architect 2 announced from Paradox Interactive and Double Eleven

Quoting: suchAfter PDX took over, game stopped working outright for me. On Steam (Properties... Betas) can choose to play couple old game (working for me) builds. Never gone back to PDX version and tested if Linux build got fixed/working again.Quoting: eldakingHuh, that's interesting. Not a peep about any of this here, oddly enough:Quoting: suchNever heard of Double Eleven before, so I started digging... and this appears to be a support studio. Lots of ports, made stuff for other games, published an indie, but nothing remotely suggesting they have what it takes to make a game like this (which is not easy to make). They have been working on the first Prison Architect since 2016, initially to port it to consoles (that was before Paradox got the license!) and then were brought by Paradox to update the game and develop new content - I think they made all the DLC released for it (a few mid-sized expansions afaik, haven't played any of them). I'd guess that for all purposes they were the studio that got the PA license after the sale.
Tl;dr: not the PA1 dev, no experience in the genre (from what they share), and the latest in a slew of (poorly made) games published by PDX...
I'd be cautious.
So yes they used to be a support studio working on ports and making stuff for existing games - including Prison Architect. So they do have experience not only in this genre but in this very franchise... which is not necessarily reassuring, as they mostly did DLC and the original design came from Introversion which was a very different company.

That PDX DLC is much maligned in the community from what I've seen - as stuff just bolted onto the game for no other reason than to sell more of said stuff.
So... we'll see. Hopefully it's good. Worst case scenario I'll try to find the latest Introversion build of PA1. I did play a bit of it back then, so it's been quite some time.
Steam Deck OLED initial quick-look and Q&A Part 1

And OLED screens, on those portable devices, died on me within couple years. Organics not very happy with temperature changes, moisture and direct sunlight. Bad personal experience with OLED longevity, will be avoiding those for long time.

Quoting: WorMzyWrong time of year to be asking, but which would be better for using in direct sunlight? The biggest problem with the LCD Deck is it's almost impossible to use when I'm sat out in the garden at the height of summer (which, to be fair, is about two weeks at the start of August in the UK). It's better than the original Switch, but I've heard tell that the OLED Switch is even worse in direct sunlight, so I've not bothered upgrading (that and beyond TOTK, I've had nothing much to play on the Switch for years...)OLED have much better contrast compared with LCD. Should have much better visibility. Had phone, mp3/media player in past, run into few car GPS/info systems with OLED screens too, great contrast in bright light...

Quoting: Liam DaweOfficial Steam Deck (OLED) page already exist and it have FAQ. Majority questions and speculations have answers there.Quoting: BlackBloodRumThe question becomes, will they continue to support the now old, obsolete Steam Decks? The 256GB model is staying as LCD so yes, and the software behind them is largely the same remember (minus the extras for the new OLED ofc).
