I will always give GOG business over other stores when they have a game I want. I don't like using clients and actually prefer being able to download just the installers from their website. I know i'm in the minority on that one. Compared to Itch.io I like how when a game is updated that I own I get a notification on the GOG site, with Itch.io it is up to the developers to notify the users when the game has been updated unless you're using the client. In any case I just so happen to like how GOG does things so it works for me.
Quoting: fagnerlnLinux ports needing the installation of libraries even on supported distroI will concede this but I do have to add that I have had games on Steam before that also require this. A big difference is many of the titles that need this on GOG state this on the store page while on Steam I had to see the game wouldn't launch; run it in temrinal to find out why; and see that a library was missing and download it. Obviously not all Steam games do this but to be fair not all games from GOG do either.

Quoting: minkiuI know it's not fully Foss but you can see the code on github, in case you didn't know.I know, which is why I used FOSS instead of just saying "open source".
Quoting: elmapulif the foss comunity was not able to compete, i dont see why they should.I'm not understanding the comment. Are you saying that Epic should only make the Unreal engine FOSS if the FOSS market were able to compete ? If so what does that even mean ?

Nice to see Linux improvements but the one improvement I wanted was it released as FOSS which I knew wouldn't happen.
Quoting: CatKillerIf they made Unity FOSS I bet it could happen in short order. Not that this will ever happen, i'm realistic.Vulkan and Linux support was also added to their "GameplayMediaEncoder"It'd be nice if Unity got around to this, too.
Intel Arc Graphics launches for laptops, desktop GPUs later this year

My big hopes for these is that they will work with FLOSS distros like Trisquel. Current Intel onboard graphics do where AMD GPU's don't due to needing closed source firmware from the kernel. Right now if I want to go FLOSS my GPU options are Nvidia GTX 780 on Nouveau or Intel onboard, neither of which are great for gaming.

Quoting: syylkI'll stick with the Power 9's over the 10's unless they change course on them.Quoting: PublicNuisancemy course of action is still a Power9 system long term.In April the P10s scale out will be in GA.
They're insane - fastest CPU money can buy.

They can make it as fast as they want but what I care about is privacy and security foremost and as far as I know they're making it more closed than previous chips as well as still having Intel ME. Compare that to AMD still using PSP and having Pluton and my course of action is still a Power9 system long term.

This looks like a game I will enjoy watching people play more than I would enjoy playing. Too fast for me. I wish them luck regardless.
