Quoting: GuestAnd for things with DX10 calls and DX11 features, they added the application based workarounds, as for World of Warcraft. Interesting, that Mesa and DXVK need game based workarounds. Seems game devs / engines are not always compliant to standards.Quoting: edmondoQuoting: GuestWould I have to specify between things like to use DX11 or DX10 ect. per game, or would it automatically do all that for me?It's implemented in the setup scripts. It installs the needed dll for 10 and 11:

I wouldn't know which games use which version of direct x and could imagine it being confusing if I had to specify per-game which version of directx to useProbably it will do that automatically since game would make a Dx10 call ,not Dx11.
Looks like I'll have to do some testing this weekend, not even tried latest version of wine yet

The lads are going crazy. Good for us, if they can succeed. That, especially DX9 (DX10->11 wasn't that big afterall, DX9-> 10 was a real break) sounds like a tough challange. I didn't think DXVK could be what it is today though, especially in the time they got that done (or he, it seems mainly one crazy and very skilled lad pulling that stunt off).
I gotta' admit, I am stunned by the progress and I hope the eyes are not bigger than the stomach can handle.. that's a crazy amount of work. As it was with DXVK to get it where it is now.
edit: Forgot to say I wish them the best of luck and a lot of success ofc. Just because I'm sceptical of the work required, I very much appreciate the stunt they're pulling off here, which is nothing short of incredible.

Last time I checked on Skyrim I still had graphical glitches too, that may be gone by now though.

Quoting: ShmerlI know, but it "works" already, which is surprising enough.Quoting: STiATTW3 and Skyrim are a huge "yes, finally!" for meAlmost finally. TW3 should get a workaround for missing stream output in the coming months.

Wondering who sponsors the developer. Certainly too much progress for him not doing that full time.
It's good again seeing it coming along, TW3 and Skyrim are a huge "yes, finally!" for me, and WoW can't hurt for me since they seem to port wow classic to the new client.

Talking point: Leaving user reviews for Linux games can really help a developer

Always did that. If games were not to my liking I just skipped the review, but if I enjoyed it I put a review in place.
Maybe got a bit sloppy lately, since I didn't buy many games recently for personal/financial reasons, but that will change again with end of the year.

That's interesting. Looks more like a "how much interest is in this game" via kickstarter, but ok. I'll give the demo a try, and decide then if I back it, but it looks promising to me.
Just considering backing since he already successfully released obviously with profit and has a playable demo. That's important to me after the lots of emty promises we had on kickstarter.

To my knowledge, dxvk is c++ and wine people are pretty strict about not accepting c++. This will be up to distros to support - or lutris and others.

Well, if they don't do QA on their linux port, it's right to remove it. If it suffers bugs even more so.
I do understand the developer, but in my opinion they shouldn't have sold it in the first place if they don't have intentions to support the platform from a QA standpoint.
That said, I'm sad it didn't work out, but we know the stability of Unity releases on Linux, quite some games have suffered this.
Maybe they review the decision in the future, even though, I do not expect it. We'll see.
