Valve was investing heavily in PC platform games and distribution when everybody else were busy declaring the PC a dead platform and consoles were supposed to the be future.
Now look where we are, Steam is one of, if not the biggest gaming platform in the world. If anything Valve saved PC gaming, not killed it.

Someone took a page out of Microsofts book. Embrace Extend Extinguish.
And given the fact that Epic owns easy anti cheat, and their CEO's love for Microsoft Windows, it's not a big mystery whats going on.

This is quite a nice game that harkens back to Amiga games of old. I bought it during the christmas sale and played it with proton, but area transition didn't work due to a problem with wine. So happy to see this native version, now I can continue my game :)

I can't wait for the excuse "We are unable to dedicate resources to a Linux port at this time, due to work on the new expansion" then a couple months later "We are making sure the Windows version of Battletech with our new Flashpoint expansion works best on Windows and Mac before bringing it to Linux" Much later... "Unfortunately there won't be a Linux port due to work on Battletech 2, but that will come to Linux sometime after release" And a round and round she goes.

Already "preordered" through fig, for the collectors edition. Though the original had it's problems on Linux, they got most of them fixed. They never fixed the cloaks though. However they're using the same version of the engine as was used on Tyranny. And all the issues were fixed there.
