Quoting: kuhpunktIntentionally causing Fomo might be a thing, but Toho might also be weird with their licensing.
Yeah, honestly I'd bet on this being a licensing thing. Especially since it's free, there's no income to pay for renewing the license.

Quoting: dubigrasuSo AYANEO OS...whatever was called, what happened with it?
They must have realised it's better to go with SteamOS, than fragment things further.
Also, if Valve is charging little to nothing to use the OS, what benefit would there be to Ayaneo to spend money on their own OS? The point of skipping Windows is that it saves money and allows a more tailored hand-held experience. If they can get both without spending a bunch of money on Linux OS maintainers, that'd be a huge win.

Steam Deck - SteamOS 3.5.9 Preview 'Well Paced Edition' brings more fixes

Quoting: slaapliedjeThat said, anyone remember the Atari Lynx (and I think the Game Boy supported this too) where you could connect a cable and play multiplayer... I wonder how feasible that'd be to do with two Steam Decks...
Definitely possible using Ethernet/Wifi and a game that supports direct IP multiplayer, or hosting a local server. But it definitely wouldn't be a plug-and-play setup.

The first hour was hell, but they fixed the issues and somehow there are still Limited Edition models in stock 2 hours later. Whatever they're doing to keep stuff in stock, it seems to be working.

Quoting: japzoneWhy would you triple the frames of 20fps to reach 60Hz, when you can just double them to hit 40Hz? Wouldn't that be a better option for the SteamDeck?
This is for games that reach between 30-20 FPS to makes the drops to 20 in some areas feel less bad. If you game can't reach above 20 FPS and you are fine with that then you probably will still prefer going with 40Hz but if the game for a lot of sections could hit kinda stable 30 as well then you might want to play at 60Hz and not 40Hz.
Ah, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for explaining.

JSAUX wasted no time with a new Steam Deck Docking Station with DisplayPort

Why does the USB-C port say "USB-C DP"? DP would imply DisplayPort-out over the USB-C, which I doubt this does. Did they typo "USB-C PD" (Power Delivery)?

Having no way to update the firmware with the device the accessory is designed for is pretty dumb. Hopefully they rectify that blunder soon.
