Any idea?
You probably solved but in case you didn't... Are you using some non-standard glibc libs? 3rd party maybe? Try installing the stable one from Fedora repositories. The libstdc++6 [External Link] would be the right package for Ubuntu so maybe it's named something similar in your distribution. If you don't want to change your OS libraries just LD_PRELOAD it in app properties.
Yes I sorted it out by completely disabling the Steam runtime, but the game has some big graphical bugs in combat, too bad...

On Fedora, no problem getting it to work with libGLEW, but I've got the following error:
/home/omer666/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Silver/silver32: relocation error: /home/omer666/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Silver/silver32: symbol _ZNSt7__cxx1112basic_stringIcSt11char_traitsIcESaIcEE10_M_replaceEjjPKcj, version GLIBCXX_3.4.21 not defined in file libstdc++.so.6 with link time reference
Game removed: AppID 606680 "Silver", ProcID 8227

Seems the Linux version of Cossacks 3 is not a myth, as I now have access

Quoting: slaapliedjeLooks awesome, wish we could get another Myth style game though. I mean how many standard RTS games can one want?

For those that never played Myth, it plays much like an RTS, but you have a limited number of units per level, you can't just crank out new ones. All of the terrain (like it says in cossacks 3) is useful for determining tactics (place your archers up on a hill so they have further range, while your melee fighters run up to protect them), also your surviving soldiers gain ranks and skills, so you try harder to keep them alive.

I've found that most standard RTS games are just a matter of who can click faster, and knows the tech tree the best.
Then have a look at Deadhold [External Link]. It's made by mappers from the Myth community and it just feels like a spiritual successor. Oh and they're targeting Linux too!

...which explains why I saw you playing it last night! Nice to see that kind of notification popping up during my weekly Deus Ex fix!

Feral Interactive are teasing yet another Linux game

The only fast paced FPS we can possibly get on Linux in coming years is UT4. Even on Windows, the genre has been pretty much abandoned for some time. I feel sad about it but that's the situation nevertheless...

Stellaris is the new early unlock for the Humble Monthly bundle

Quoting: iplaygameswearingatuxBought the April monthly for Dirt Rally, which was a disappointment due to its difficulty. Otherwise, the bundle seems OK. 4 out of the 6 surprise games are on Linux and have good reviews. But those are games I would never buy. Will try them out to see if I like them. :)
Same, bought April for Dirt, ended up too damn hard.
Been subscribed since january of this year, so far pretty good titles. Started to play that This Is The Police from this month's bundle and I LOVE it, will keep playing (like i have time for that :D)
As far as I am concerned, I just love that game so far. Just like both GRID Autosport & F1 2015, it strikes the perfect balance between taking risks and driving carefully.

Dawn of War III looks like it might come to Linux

While I do read reviews before buying games, there's not a single negative comment that I read that convinced me at the time.
The main reason is that while PC gaming is broader than say Mac or Linux gaming, I think it is way more narrow-minded, because of a phenomena of reinforcement. A game that's talked about will be all the rage, and at the end of the day, tastes in PC-gaming, if we look at the big picture, are rather poor/basic.

That's how I explain why some people see things that I don't see. And first and foremost, DoW II doesn't remind me of a MOBA at all. That's micromanagement pushed to the extreme, with some RPG elements, and it makes me think of Myth or Canon Fodder. Again, anyone can make his own links to other titles, anyway I can't help but to think that people say it's a MOBA because MOBA is what's being talked about nowadays, that it's a very divisive topic, and that it means a lot of negative concepts to people's mind, including free-to-play and pay-to-win.

The fact is that it's the main argument for negative comments, and it's an argument I don't find convincing at all. So, we'll see.

Fixed for you ;)
Wasnt bungie always a Microsoft game dev team?

Anyways, now halo is a cash cow,
and are only out on plebb boxes :/.
Im not buying any more consoles,
my last one was the 360 that died with red light of death :(
Bungie was a studio that released only original Apple Macintosh games up to Myth, which was their first PC/Mac game, and Myth II which was ported to Linux by Loki Software back in the day. The studio founder, Alex Seropian, left after the Microsoft buyout. I don't remember if he even completed the development of the first Halo, but he surely has nothing to do with the followups.
