C4 Engine Drops Linux Support, Developer Says Linux Is Inferior
13 Jan 2015 at 6:12 pm UTC

Quoting: N30N@lucifertdark, He has given a little more info on forums [External Link]:
Quoting: Eric Lengyel it would periodically start failing to boot up. Either the boot loader would give me an error message, or the screen would just stay black without anything happening, or I would get to a solid purple screen that just froze. No mouse cursor, no response to keyboard input, nothing. This happens for no reason whatsoever. I never made any hardware changes or did anything out of the ordinary like tinkering with the hard drive partitions. It just spontaneously breaks. So I reinstall. Again and again, every time this happens.
I know what your thinking but…
Quoting: Eric Lengyel And btw, I don't have a hardware problem. Don't even mention it. It's new, and it's high-end.
So, basically, his hard drive is failing, and he doesn't know nor understands symptoms. Shouldn't anyone tell him?

But, at least, he has hi-end :D

C4 Engine Drops Linux Support, Developer Says Linux Is Inferior

I never heard of C4 before, but removing support for one of platforms in face of customers that already paid sounds like jerk move. I especially love that There is no danger whatsoever of Mac OS X support being dropped, it sounds so... trustworthy :)

Quoting: Bumadaranyways, the soutpark episiode about kickstarter http://www.southpark.nl/clips/s4v9pg/washington-redskins-kickstarter [External Link] should be a must watch for many who got no idea about what your really do when you donate/support a kickstarter.
Awkward. Site is not available in your country.

Looks like "many who got no idea about what your really do when you donate/support a kickstarter" are screwed ;-)

7 Days To Die, A Sandbox Zombie Survival Game Finally Arrives On Linux

Quoting: kozecBS. 7dtd was supposed to be released for linux ~year ago and there were nothing said about early access. They joined it long after kickstarter and basicaly took dump on heads of their suppporters.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's not even out for Windows yet? There's not a single review on either gamerankings nor metacritic, and it's only on "Early Access" on Steam.

I mean, sure, so they promised to be done with the game a year ago (or whatever) but you guys make it sound like it's just the Linux version we talk about here, when in fact no version for any platform is properly released yet.
But Early Access is big part of problem here. It enabled The Fun Pimps to cash-in continuous income not only without fulfilling any Kickstarter promises, but even without releasing anything usable.

It's really not fair to use Early Access as excuse. Should they announce their plan spending rest of ages there, I wouldn't pledge cent to them :P

Quoting: edqeGreat to have yet another game for Linux.

I personally hope that people who doesn't understand the risks of using development version of products / Early Access would stay away from Early Access games. It is tiring to read whining and complaining if and when development version doesn't work properly.
BS. 7dtd was supposed to be released for linux ~year ago and there were nothing said about early access. They joined it long after kickstarter and basicaly took dump on heads of their suppporters.

Quoting: drmothOpenGL 4+ has pretty much all of DirectX11 covered iirc.
Wow, is that true? And I, in my layman ignorance, thought OpenGL was still years behind DirectX feature-wise. Nice to know. :)
OpenGL was always far before DX. Always. But most of advanced stuff is (was?) available only as extensions, making developement little problematic. That may be one of reason why many games sticks with nvidia-only support.

Looking at that readme... May I ask, where in the world you saw GNU\Linux written with backslash? :D
