The whole thing about Tencent being the CCP is untrue. The party has been having conflicts with Tencent and Ant for the past year and taking antitrust action against them, etc.
That said, as a community generally opposed and hostile to Microsoft's business practices, I should hope that people don't hold double standards and denounce a company that is objectively far worse. Just a bit of digging into some of the things its involved in should confirm that.

Quoting: GuestTencent, and chinese companies, can buy a lot of enterprises because China is the best economy, growing like no one. If you don't like it you should change your own governments so you can compete with China, just like they did 50 years ago. Market socialism is beating liberal capitalism, grow up and deal with it.Market Socialism? More like authoritarian capitalism or "capitalism with Chinese characteristics." I honestly hope no one tries to emulate that, it sounds like an incredibly unpleasant world to live in.

It's very nice for the first time since this survey started to be observing a genuine trend away from dual booting.
It's super encouraging for Linux gaming and it's actually very easy now without making any major sacrifices to your game library.

I definitely have mixed feelings on the whole review bombing thing.
On the one hand, a bunch of entitled and over-excited little kids (or grown men who behave as such) going on some crusade because their favorite Youtuber told them to really doesn't help anyone. There's games that have years of work put into them and get absolutely panned for no reason. There's often no second chances and with smaller companies it can ruin them.
On the other hand, it's pretty clear to some of the big developers and publishers that they can't get away with some of the abhorrent business practices that they have been able to in the past. In these cases it's often companies throwing their toys out of the pram because they can't get away with carving-out content and charging for it later or pay-to-win nonsense or just making crappy generic games for a quick buck. It's no coincidence that the Epic Store et. al. don't have reviews. How pro-consumer.

Quoting: tmtvlHang on, isn't Obsidian owned by Microsoft now? Why can Paradox put PoE on sale?They're just the publisher for that, presumably that doesn't change if a developer changes hands. There would be a contract for X amount of years signed between Obsidian and Paradox, and Microsoft simply inherits that contract.

Quoting: wytrabbitIt has way more to do with people sitting around rooms calculating pricing models and market demographics than anything to do with game development or the quality of the product. If it were up to a lot of developers, we would get none of those three things and we would still be paying these prices, I mean look at EA.Quoting: Segata SanshiroExpansion looks great and all, but £35 for DLC??? The base game is £50 for those of us who bought it day-1 and the other expansion (which I still haven't gotten round to buying because of the price) is £25. That's fu**ing nuts, there's no other way to describe that.{ Low Price | High Quality | Fast Development Speed }
I remember the gold old days when you paid £30 for a game and £15 for each expansion and all the little pieces of additional £5 horse armour didn't exist.
I like Civ a lot and VI is pretty decent, but honestly the value for money is abhorrent. For those buying day-1 and paying £110 to have a full game, you're better off waiting a couple of years for a £20 "complete edition" and buy like 5 really decent games to play during that time. There's just no way of justifying that pricetag.
Choose 2.

Ughhh just release Victoria III. Hint at it, give a release window. Anything. Still my favorite franchise of theirs, my favorite strategy game and possibly my favorite game. Even the second one feels super dated now and doesn't run on Linux reliably.
Been waiting years for it and at this point, anything else is just a tease.
