Turn-Based Action Platformer Ronin Is Slated For Release In May

I played the very early version of this, back when its creator posted on Reddit, IIRC. It's actually pretty cool, and I'm looking forward to it. I did manage to get a pretty cool screenshot when it froze on me.

@kyokei Pretty much always 60+, save for a few specific situations, like when I force the camera to spaz out by holding right click and moving my mouse around really quickly.

Quoting: GuestIs it performing any better under Linux yet?
What problems have you been having? I say that because it runs like a dream for me and always has, so I don't really know what performance problems you may be having.

SpecOps: The Line For Linux Is Official, Being Ported By Virtual Programming
28 Apr 2015 at 3:39 am UTC

My thought process: "Oh, cool! Spec Ops: The Line is coming to Linux! I've heard a lot of cool things about it. Oh, wait. A VP port? Nope, gonna pass on that."

The state of Witcher 2 when it was first released on Linux makes me really second-guess any port they've had their hands on. The game itself might be worth it, but the crap I had to put up with to play it when it dropped seriously killed my hype for it. VP may have, and probably have, gotten better, but that first impression was not at all good.

A reverse image search shows it's the Red Herring restaurant, so it could be a Red Herring of the Red Herring. Then again, it is a Fremont, Australia city that the restaurant is in, so maybe it's more than a red herring: A sign of a port coming from an Australian company. Since it's a seafood restaurant, maybe it's to do with an underwater game. I dunno, maybe?

Raven's Cry, The Open-world Action RPG Has A New Release Date
14 Oct 2014 at 4:17 pm UTC

I don't know why, but the game looks a little like it would be somewhat like Mount and Blade: Warband in that you're not the world's most powerful demigod, but rather a person who just happens to have an affinity for progressing from complete peasant to someday becoming the most powerful demigod who also rules an entire kingdom. Granted, I never got far in M&B because every time I got past a certain point I'd end up getting captured 4 times in a row, lose everything, and have to start almost entirely over again, but that's something I like about that kind of game. It's a lot more immersive to go from zero to hero over the course of the game than to Skyrim it up and go from zero to hero in about the time it takes to make a few sandwiches.

I'm kind of looking forward to this game because of it, but I have a strict "Don't pay money for a product you know basically nothing about" rule, especially after the port for The Witcher 2 effectively pimp-slapped me for having the audacity to want to use my AMD video card, something it still does. Until I can be certain the port isn't complete and utter crap, I'm going to have to hold off on it.

Unity3D Games "Phone Home" With Details Of Your Hardware & Software

Quoting: GuestI view that as an invasion of privacy. The user should always be asked for consent before sending such information out. Had I known....well, I suddenly don't feel like using any Unity based games anymore.
Exactly. They didn't exactly hide the info, but it's like writing a note and leaving it on a table: Sure, the info is there and anyone can read it, but there's no indication that there's even important info on it. Unless you check, you're not sure what it's about.

Personally, I'm getting really ticked off with the developers of Unity. Not only have they continued to ignore the most requested editor feature by far, a Linux version [External Link], but they've also continued to ignore Linux users when it comes to the Unity Web client thing. Then I find this is going on? Screw Unity. At this point, I don't want anything to do with it.

The Skullgirls Promised Linux Port Seems Iffy Again (UPDATED)

I just can't see why they need someone to VOLUNTEER for this. They asked for $150k in the Indiegogo campaign, got over $800k, yet still can't afford to pay for someone to port the game. They massively overshot the goal of making a DLC character, so they spent it on making 5, but why did they not allocate any of it to paying someone to bring it to Linux?

GOL Asks: What Have You Been Playing Recently?

Mostly Half Life 2, DOTA 2, Overgrowth, and the free weekend for Mount and Blade: Warband. Everyone knows the first two, Overgrowth is a good fighting/semiparkour game, and Mount and Blade is an RPG, essentially. It's like Civ with the whole "Just one more _____" thing.
