Steam Deck, SteamOS will now stop bugging you to install updates multiple times

@ElectricPrism Use a Steam Family to share libraries between different accounts and you shouldn't have that issue.

Steam's old family sharing system locks entire libraries, but the new Family setup shares individual game licenses.

Or one of the devices can be put into offline mode and that should also bypass the lockout. Steam won't know the library is in use if it doesn't have network access. (Is World of Goo an online game? I guess this idea won't work if it is.)

Ubisoft just broke their games on Linux desktop and Steam Deck

Quoting: EhvisWaaaay back in the early days of Steam on Linux, I decided to not spend money on anything with 3rd party dependencies. In the years since then it has been made clear many times that this was the right decision. So happy to say that this does not affect me.
Even games that I bought years ago, with no launcher, have later been updated to add one. Sadly, what (anti)features exist at the time of purchase is not set in stone.

Looking at you, Paradox.

Steam Deck Beta update tweaks notifications, boot video length upped to 30 seconds

Quoting: mr-victoryThe problem with Steam Deck boot video is that it plays after boot is completed ie. you can "patch out" the boot loader and your boot time will decrease. Otherwise, PS1 intro is 20 secs but no one cares about that because it plays during boot.
Also Deck probably has long boot time because boot includes starting Steam which takes quite a bit.
Is this a thing? How much shorter the boot time would be?
The default animation is about 4-5 seconds, so that much shorter.

There's now a dedicated website for Steam Deck boot videos

Quoting: elmapuland those screens proudly saying "steamOS" and not windows, implying those users arent dualbooting (not that they can customize windows that much anyway)
The animations saying "SteamOS" is a bit misleading anyway. Steam (the client) plays the boot animation on Deck, after booting is basically finished and the OS launches Steam automatically in Gaming Mode.

JSAUX wasted no time with a new Steam Deck Docking Station with DisplayPort

Quoting: GuestJSAUX dock 60$ + charger 20$ = 80$
Valve dock 99$

so JSAUX is cheaper
biggest problem here is waiting time
ETA for Valve dock is 7-14 days
ETA for JSAUX is mhm 21+ days ?
It was $89 + tax for my Valve dock order. Are you outside the US? JSAUX also gives prices in USD, it seems, so make sure you are comparing the same currencies.

Quoting: Liam DaweBeing listed is not the same as being launched. It has only just launched.
Just launched, after six weeks of teasing. My point is, they had it ready enough to list and announce [External Link], and I would guess supply chain issues meant it got held back, possibly in favor of the NVMe dock with a higher price (and probably higher margin).

Finally launching the dock with DisplayPort right after Valve started taking orders for theirs honestly makes it look like JSAUX had their hand forced. The two products are nearly identical. I wish JSAUX had been more upfront about the timeline for HB0702, as it's now well past the return window for my unopened HB0603 ordered in early August.

They did waste time on it, though. A dock model HB0702 with DisplayPort was listed on the JSAUX site (but marked out of stock) when I ordered some other stuff back in August. I've been in contact with them about when the DisplayPort version would return for weeks. Was eventually told it would launch again mid-September, but we got the NVMe one instead.

You can find me and others asking about HB0702 in r/JSAUX on reddit, with varying levels of success. It's been a whole Saga™, and they took too long for me. Ordered the Valve dock the day it was put up for sale.

HB0702 had DP + HDMI, but it was only very briefly listed (as Sold Out) on their site and disappeared completely this week. The old product page is now a 404.

It's actually very annoying that I ordered the "upgraded" dock a month ago, and before it had even been delivered a newer model that I would have preferred was announced and almost immediately delisted. The company has seemingly ignored my and others' questions about HB0702 via email, reddit, and twitter. It's frustrating.
Also be aware, the upgraded docking station (https://www.jsaux.com/products/upgraded-docking-station-for-steam-deck) actually doesn't have a DP (DisplayPort). I got mine and was also mislead by the description on this page which states:

> The main difference between HB0702 and 0603 is that 0702 has one more DP port than 0603

Currently there is no 0702 in their products, only a 0602, so I assumed this was a typo and it meant this version (0603) has an additional DP port.

Now from your post I realised there actually was a 0702 and that's what they meant...
I would like to follow up: Email support at JSAUX this morning told me HB0702 "is expected to be released in mid-September", and to follow their social media for announcements. Which is what I'm doing, and what led to the current confusion, but sure—they did answer the question this time.

So hopefully that means a dock with DP will finally become available. If I can order it along with the extra power supply that was out of stock when I ordered HB0603 etc. last month, so much the better.
