Game Saves Are Messing Up Our Drives!
30 Sep 2014 at 12:34 pm UTC Likes: 1

being coder my self, all i can say is "leave it to random wanna-be coder to be clueless as fsck, as long as it works..."

i lost so many nerves when talking about specs with coders in our company or friends i know... and it always ends up with "who has the time to study this?"

although .config and .local shouldn't be counted here.
.config is legit location for preferences
.local is legit location for save files
the problematic ones are games that just store into random location outside those 2, like in home or Documents

Linux Games To Come In 2014, A Look At What Is Ahead

i'm more interested in what happened with Topware and their "pushing 30 titles". even Raven's cry is not specifying linux version on steam, even though official site clearly says it should.

Dead Island Still Looks Like It Will Come To Linux, Lots Of New Builds
11 Sep 2014 at 12:38 pm UTC

wasn't it VP that ported that to mac?

Quoting: DCentOne question: Dead Island has been indexed in Germany and so I can't buy it on Steam. However, if I buy a Steam code at another shop and redeem it for my account, will I be able to play it in my country?
hope this helps.

somehow, Dark Souls 1 is not available when I access trough Steam to buy it. bought steam version on GMG and steam didn't have any problems with that. DS is available in my library as any other game

i like how they push linux but the idea of steam within gnu/linux is perverting the actual idea of free software. what we trade here is freedom for convenience and the sole reason i go along with it is that i hope when steam dies off one day (and it will, all does eventually) it will have pushed linux a little. whenever i can i buy my games in DRM free fashion and dodge steam like the plague. i like what they do to push the developement of linux but still i see it as a trade with the devil.
there is no trade with the devil you speak of. in order for linux to grow it has to get acceptance of commercial software. as simple as that.

if developer of app A won't write linux version of his software, company that depends on it can never move on linux. that probably means that developer of app B will never see reason to write his own app for linux. every little push matters.

what you preach is false religion that only hurts linux adoption. as long as you can avoid closed software or at least securely contain it when you can't avoid it. free or commercial doesn't matter as long as you're the one deciding

Feral Interactive Wish To Know Why You Game On Linux
3 Sep 2014 at 2:57 pm UTC

for me it is simple. hate mac and windows are completely useless for my needs. consoles are way too expensive in the long run. ooohhh, and i love linux to the point where even trying to imagine my self using anything else ends up with huge headache

i think they should make a thread on /r/linux_gaming. lots more people there

Yeah, and those who bought the first episode will get the second one for free, so for all practical purposes it's about the same thing.
ok, that's awesome. even 1 only was more than worth its money.

DreadOut Third-Person Horror Game Released on Steam
23 Aug 2014 at 1:32 pm UTC

Quoting: nllaI've been waiting for this game release since it has been greenlighted. Old school survival horror is my favorite genre, so the only criticism about Dreadout that could dissuade me from buying it is that it's too short. The developers are reportedly already working on it, so it's definitely in my buying list!
they are working on episode 2, not on extending this one.
