DreadOut Third-Person Horror Game Released on Steam
22 Aug 2014 at 4:32 pm UTC

i stand corrected, game is better than FF/PZ. though graphically quite below average probably, sound and scares are absolutely perfect in creating awesome atmosphere

one thing i like is that there is no usual cheap scare like everywhere else, where something jumps at you with loud noise. it is a non stop tension, which is something FF never really succeeded

Quoting: BeamboomFor those who care about professional reviewers opinion; This game has a metascore of barely 50.
Just sayin'. :)
professional reviewers? that is pure example of Nickelback effect

i can only remember 1 or 2 games where my favourite games were above 85, most being under 70, some even under 50. i can also remember whole lot of almost 100 that sucked as hell. take AC for example, they put so much in graphics, they forgot they are making game and not movie.

when i see someone putting grade on review, i simply don't click on it. same as i don't care about trailers. google "gamex gameplay video" and there is your score. if you like it, buy it, if you don't, don't

The Witcher 3 For Linux Remains Officially Unconfirmed
18 Aug 2014 at 11:25 pm UTC

Quoting: FutureSutureWith GOG taking ages to add Linux clients of games it sells that have Linux clients elsewhere, with the absolutely devastating launch of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings on Linux, and now this as well, I am leaning more and more toward just buying the games I want on Steam. Steam may not be open source, it may offer DRM, but it is treating Linux like a first class citizen and has improved the Linux ecosystem tremendously. Steam on Linux is what started and is continuing to advance the movement to make Linux a capable operating system for gaming. Perhaps it is time I offered it the attention it deserves instead of hoping for GOG to meet demand with supply.
anti-DRM-store only supporting main-pro-DRM-pusher should be enough of a clue. if they were anti-DRM as they claim, GOG should be driving gaming on linux, not Valve

although, since they also opened for linux now, i decided on giving them a little slack and wait. it's just games are expensive as hell there, not to mention they only have 50 8-bit like games only, which is not my cup of cake

Quoting: berillionsActually, it's a good thing even if it's unconfirmed...

The Linux/Mac version is planned after the Windows release, i'm completly sure and it's absolutely certain. Why ? Because instead of to say "No Linux version planned for this game" to , Michał Stec said "It’s too early to say", "We’ll see after that" -> CDPR wants to take out a version but has not begun the development yet.
blue pill effect?

i'm also guessing you'll buy it to play on wine since it *cough* might *cough* show up. one reason why they avoid no is exactly these false sales they get

How To Build A Budget Steam Machine
17 Aug 2014 at 6:03 pm UTC

it doesn't really make sense to compare any steambox to xbox one for 2 reasons.
- next generations of steambox will be coming with updated hw. xbox will stay the same
- this machine is not same spec as xbox one. it's kind of overkill. it is practical sure bet for 1920x1080/60, when even optimized xbox games struggle at 30+

i'd actually rather pay a bit more and buy http://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/1555-zotac-zbox-en760-860m-benchmark-steam-machine [External Link]

large form factor simply doesn't go well with tv ;)

AMD Working Closely With Khronos Group On Next-gen OpenGL, Gives Mantle Access
17 Aug 2014 at 3:48 pm UTC

Quoting: Half-ShotI don't think its fair to say that. The Linux drivers are still pretty close on Windows for performance but what people ALWAYS fail to realise is that there are many other factors to choosing a GPU other than performance per watt or per currency.

  • If a new Xorg came out tomorrow, radeon would be supporting it from day one.

  • If xfce-wayland came out tomorrow, radeon would run out of the box on it.

  • If nvidia came out tomorrow and stopped supporting, even if it is theoretical, there would be no obligation by them to release code or do anything.

nouveau is improving in huge leaps and all amd points you mentioned are valid whole mesa stack, not just amd.

nvidia dropping binary support+nouveau getting better would just put them at almost same stage as amd blob wise. amd is just getting worse and worse in that department. i really hope this is sign of joining oss+blob initiative and that would be the reason why they are dropping the ball on linux blob right now. oss driver from amd on the other hand it's like they put it in the next gear or 2 development wise. so, i kinda hope that is it

Quoting: Half-ShotTL;DR Preformance!=Best

And yes that was fanboyism, not for AMD but for Linux and FOSS. I couldn't care less about catalyst either, but I damn well want mesa to take over.
that i couldn't agree more with. i'd gladly pay for rank or two higher card and get less performance, but open driver

Quoting: fleskIt's actually a bit odd that the Linux version of Papo & Yo isn't on Steam. Steam achievements work if you have the Steam client running while playing the Humble Bundle version, so I don't know what's keeping them from putting it up on Steam.
It was the same with Antichamber for a while... Just be patient :)
Antichamber? what is that?

still, perfectly working port, beautiful game (probably one of most beautiful and original currently on linux), achievements work for me too... it really makes me wonder how it slipped by all linux gaming sites, especially when you consider they report on every even so crappy game there is

i know it is OT, but it really wonders me how http://www.weareminority.com/papo-yo/ [External Link] could go unnoticed by game sites. wouldn't even notice this one if i didn't check humble store and saw it on sale (not available on steam, just standalone linux version).

still, beautiful game as this and you can't find single news of release on Linux? steam really spoiled us

practically only announcement one can find googling is official one and this video

Darksiders 2 Confirmed For Linux

Quoting: n30p1r4t32 + 1 = 3. Darksiders 3 Confirmed!
i know this was HL3 joke, but DS3 was already confirmed with them stating something like "We'd like to familiarize with franchise before continuing it" and one would say ports were just that
