Nvidia To Show Off Vulkan On NVIDIA GPUs & An OpenGL Linux Graphics Debugger
7 Aug 2015 at 1:46 pm UTC

Quoting: ZeloxI hope vulkan can and will support sli and multimontor setups.
At the moment linuxs is useless when it comes to sli and gaming with more then one montior.

Sadly.
no, it won't. sli/crossfire is obsoleted by both vulkan and directx12. with those you can control each and every gpu (even if they are from different vendor).

sli like feature in the game will be up to developer, not up to drivers

Liam, how about an interview with these guys?
Well now, that's a beautiful idea. I was just thinking about that...
We could make a list with "uncomfortable questions & accusations " some of us here surely have for VP and use it in you interview.
so, basically... you just stated in PUBLIC that purpose of interview should be ambush by whining?

this might be selfish, but their games work for me great enough, so i don't have any other interest other than "once Vulkan is out, do they plan on updating eON to use it or not"

Quoting: mr-eggwould you turn down a near perfect port of Skyrim using Eon with full workshop compatibility ?
Yes, because a near perfect port of Skyrim using Eon means Skyrim will never get a perfect native port and I dont want to give a reason to developers to think, that I'm ok with wrappers. If i want to use wrapper, which i will never do, i will use Wine.
if eON keeps improving as it is and if they adopt Vulkan, results might actually be surprisingly good.

when AMD made their DX11 skyrocket in speed it was simply because that version of DX11 was based on Mantle.

just food for thought

Quoting: silverphilIs it mandatory to install nvidia-352 or can i get away with nvidia-331 (preferably) or nvidia-346 without issues or performance problems?
I have a GT 650M.
If you don't run at least those drivers everyone will look like smurfs (all blue), stability should be ok but those drivers are pretty old so your performance stability will vary.

I'd highly recommend using the supported drivers or newer.
pheew, that was a bit of scare. running older drivers because i'm on fedora 19 and planning to switch to SteamOS once it releases.

still, everything looks normal and smurf effect is actually stylish ;)

might upgrade my 340.20, just not today. today... I PLAY!!!

That is not the question I asked. AMD Cards are not supported on quite a few games and the open source drivers-support is even worse.

Maybe someone can or will try it out and I'd appreciate some feedback :)

Devs only ever mention the proprietary drivers. They never mention nouveau either and even if the open source nvidia driver's performance would be better I doubt they would recommend or test on it! Hence I ask.
they answered on reddit.

probably ?Should? work on latest Catalyst, mileage might be different per user

it needs OpenGL4.3, only extension mentioned specifically were compute shaders which is probably most complex extension of 4.3. kind of like tesselation was for 4.0, but since there was more interest in those than tesselation, work was already in progress. no one knows when it will be finished though

Nouveau without reclocking can't run this game anyway and Maxwell does not support it

Just buy it directly through Steam. That way you know it's legit, and it ensures that Feral gets their fair share of the sale.
Bundlestars always was legit Steam reseller. And yes, that bundle includes quite a few DLCs not covered by GOTY

It will take a while to get the hang of it, as the control scheme is pretty unique.
Did you try it with a controller / gamepad, or mouse and keyboard? Is it playable with mouse and keyboard at all?
i played with controller and it works great. note that it has very steep learning curve which is one of the things i like most in this game. it's not something you just get into. i'd suggest watching the video tutorial as 1st thing you do. it will spare you a lot of deaths which only happen until you realize difference between plane and gliding

about keyboard and mouse i can just speculate, but based on how much work was done on being able to customize controls... it shouldn't be any worse than controller. and it is even more so since this is Unity game where controller is usually terrible. developers really did their job

also, why do i want to fly? because sliding on my belly in Tuxracer needed upgrade after so many years ;) it is first game with speed done correctly after tux

Feral Interactive Are Teasing Us, Again

Quoting: berillionsWe will never have Assassin's Creed games on Linux... Maybe the first game because it does not use Uplay but the next games, it's a dream sorry...
you obviously never saw how UPlay is implemented on consoles. same way is possible anywhere if they wanted, only question is if Valve would agree or not to get the same in SteamOS (and I sincerely think that whole problem is only who gets how much when game is bought trough one or another)

just short overview:
- each game ships with UPlay included and accessible trough game menu and only usable when game is running
- more or less, each game i saw only controlled content for that game
- there is no UPlay client on console it self

and since Steam uses digital content, not hard media like consoles. being able to add other games trough UPlay wouldn't be as hard as elsewhere. it could only add code to your library and you're done

Quoting: throghInteresting but I'll wait which plattform is chosen for this "new port". Another release only on STEAM is just a non-reaction for me. A release also on GOG would be perfect regarding "Knights of the old Republic 2". So I just can't understand why everyone is happy when something new is released only on one platform with DRM. But it's only my personal opinion - it won't help Linux in common from my point of view using a proprietary kind of nonsense like STEAM. :)
you mean like open source and free games elsewhere? face it, most games are proprietary
