Quoting: BielFPsAny news about the release of SteamOS to the general public?
You can download the restore image from here:

https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/1B71-EDF2-EB6D-2BB3 [External Link]

once you boot it up the default installer looks for an NVME drive.

I didn't get round to actually installing it but got it to boot up into it's recovery mode to install SteamOS/etc

edit: I also made a vdi image by doing this:

VBoxManage convertfromraw --format VDI steamdeck-recovery-1.img steamdeck-recovery.vdi

Building a Retro Linux Gaming Computer - Part 13: Looks Almost Unreal

Quoting: rea987Will there be a Rune review on legacy and modern hardware?
I've played Rune on modern hardware. To get it to work correctly I had to use the taskset command. The game does not seem to like multi-core CPUs and acts extremely weird unless forced to a single CPU.

1 week from release, Steam Deck hits well over 640 Playable games

Quoting: rustybroomhandleAnd the selection still seems super random. But then I keep seeing people excited to play things on Deck that I have never even heard of. So maybe not so random.
They are still focusing on testing games owned by Deck reservation holders right? So I guess peoples Steam libraries are quite random?
If you look at the Jackbox games, for some reason 3 and 4 haven't been done for some reason. Even tho the others have. Just odd.

I do wonder if they really are going to go through everything. There is a ton of just complete junk/trash on Steam that even if it did "work" it's still pure rubbish that no one except for gag-gifts would buy.

Take a look at some differences in the upcoming Total War: ROME REMASTERED
3 Apr 2021 at 12:34 am UTC

I wonder what ever happened to the port for Total War: Rome II. Was going to come out but never did in the end. I remember reading about it in Linux Format magazine and were signs of it on Steamdb.

Free and open source FPS 'Tomatenquark' releases on Steam

Quoting: ewertonuriasFor years I played Cube 2: Sauerbraten, I'm very happy that they brought a modernized version to Steam.

Really, here at Manjaro it didn't run, instead of following the suggestion of the article, I chose to run with Proton, working perfectly with 200 FPS.

I'll follow the project closely.
They also seem to have compiled their binaries with relatively newer libraries. Newer than I have, so it wouldn't run at all and on another machine the controls were glitchy. So I just compiled my own binaries and then it works perfectly, just a simple 'make' was enough for me.

The source code is here: https://github.com/tomatenquark/code/releases/ [External Link]

Dinosaur survival MMO 'Path of Titans' looks seriously fun in the new pre-release video

The game constantly crashes for me. It has similar behaviour to 'Supraland' another Unreal Engine game. Both games seem to run out of graphics memory so you have to run at low settings. If I had a better graphics card it would probably crash less.

Quoting: The_Aquabatwell how this works?? suppose I mess with some salien stats or lunar sale stats... because some of those sales achievements roll over points to the next sale... would that work?? I would get points in the next sale??

Besides it's a well known fact that the ppl that get the most achievements in those sales are cheating using scripting and macros, and valve doesn't give a darn.
It's just for game achievements. Also those roll-over points are mostly based on how much you buy, which you would get banned for if you found a cheat for them as they have monetary value. People cheated the games with scripts but there was no monetary value in winning. Only thing gained was different badges.

There is an achievement in The Stanley Parable that you get my going to settings and turning it on. You can also turn that achievement off in that same settings window.

SAM is just doing the same thing but for every achievement

something like this could well be against Valve's terms if you use it to unlock achievements. I couldn't find a definitive answer on that though.
English is not my native language. When I said VAC banned, I mean to have the steam account banned.

Anyway. I think the possibility of reset the Steam achievements and, why not, the playtime of individual games should be an official feature in the steam client...
The general consensus of using SAM is that it is -extremely- unlikely Valve will ban your account for using such software. However it's always "use at your own risk". Valve really have 0 interest in people cheating/fixing their achievements. You're more likely to get banned from achievement tracking websites if you use such things for using that software.
