I really want to know why people like Sunless Sea so much, seems like a boring underdeveloped game without content or excitement.
No diss intended, what I want to know is what makes it amazing?

Quoting: Incandescentlol, nope I'm ElectricPrismQuoting: ElectricPrismSteaming from Windows Laptop to SteamOS, seems to run well on 3rd Gen i5 with modest specs. Doesn't run in WINE Day 1 from my efforts.I hope this doesn't come off as strange, but are you LucidFlux?
Will buy 4 more copies later when native Linux comes out.
Quoting: WorMzy^XP mode for meWhat dependencies did you use and I assume Wine 1.9.x ? No go for me so far.
It's been more stable for me in wine, than it has for the girlfriend on Windows. ^_^

I think he should port to FNA if it's XNA 4.x just like Terraria did.
30 Hours in, it's Freekin Fantastic.

Multiplayer still needs some work, and I am looking into possibly switching to MonoGame, which would allow for a Mac and Linux release. I can’t make any promises about that, but I’d really like for it to happen.Linux ConcernedApe Stardew Valley [External Link]

I thirst for HD HQ games, it feels like we're in a drought or something this past week, or maybe my OCD of checking GamingOnLinux is just showing through a bit.

Looking back I think a 40" might have been a better size for 4k. 1:1 scaling is important to me.

Quoting: mr-eggI 4k downscale to 1080p @ 120hz. Of course it works great on 43". 4k below 30" is not for me. 96-110 PPI is the sweet spot.Quoting: Keyrock"No wonder there's so many issues with 4K monitors, hardly anyone uses them! I genuinely miss my old monitors, 1920x1080 is just simpler."yup, running a 1440p screen and the overall hit on the GPU wasn't the 75% more of the pixels you get.
1440p is the sweet spot for high end machines right now. .
That said, 1080p is still easier for devs sadly. Some recent games ( unity ) dont even still offer 1440p and SteamOS is firmly fixed @ 1080p for the UI & for Games at the moment.. so i wouldn't be using SteamOS @ 1440p down to scaling quality
makes me wonder if i should get a 1080p flat screen or a 4k one down to higher input lag on scaling and poor 4k UI / game support :|

I must be one of the few who wanted to like the selection more but is having a hard time. I guess Trine 3 is a good item to pickup, maybe the hidden items will be better hopefully :\
What do people love about sunless sea so much anyways? Seems slow and riven/mistish mixed with a dialog adventure - am i missing something.

Also, it looks like HTTPS is causing the comment box to not work, I have to Chrome Dev Console edit the < form action to include the http://gamingonlinux.com/ [External Link] URL prefix to post a comment HTTPS is broken.

GLFW, a platform-independent API for developers already supports Vulkan

Sure SDL2 and GLFW are both game libraries, It's been a while since I programmed with SDL however my experience with it felt that it lacked the modularity that I hoped it would have and that events had to be triggered in a much more procedural way than alternatives.
Apples and Pears here. I too hope OP elaborates more from his experience.

Quoting: GuestI err on the side of caution, for example to the inexperienced someone may compare GIMP and Photoshop and they would be right to do so at mere face value, however the differences are infinitesimal.Quoting: SkullyActually GLFW sux as hard as GFWL. Seen quite a few games suffer problems from using that instead of SDL2.Care to explain why it "sux"? Considering all GLFW does is open a window and handle a little bit of input, there's not a whole lot that can go wrong with it of note. For what it covers, SDL2 and GLFW are quite comparable.
