Steam Deck / SteamOS hits 19,000 games rated Verified and Playable

It wasn't that long ago we were at 10,000 and very soon I'm sure we'll see 20,000.

If you told me this as a Linux user 20 years ago I wouldn't believe we could have come so far so quickly. I was barely playing Counter Strike Source and BroodWar on Ubuntu with Beryl and Compiz.

Denuvo will lock you out of games on Linux, SteamOS, Steam Deck if you keep changing Proton versions

I really should have AI analyze my game library to make sure there is no Denuvo or other DRM rootkits.

Then I can just delete them.

There are so many things to play, and no reason to reward companies who are hostile with consumers.

I wouldn't mind a browser extension that hides these spyware infested games from the Store entirely.

These kinds of PSAs are very welcome.

Epic reduce their cut to 0% for the first $1 million in revenue for devs on the Epic Games Store

@dziadulewicz - "EPIG. Never have, never will support this scum. Even if Epig started to support Linux; too little too late. Tim Sweeney? Nothing but pants"

I don't think you have to Worry, I don't think Tim Sweeney knows how to dismount a tiger.

It actually makes it really nice, because you know upfront the whole store is going to be a huge fail for consumers, and therefore don't need to waste money feeding the tiger before it's meal time.

@eggrole - "More competition and options are generally a good thing."

Epic is "competition" to Steam in the same way that a Moped is competition with a Luxary Car.

Statistically Consumers prefer Luxary Cars to Mopeds.

Their business model is cart before horse ass-backwards.

The consumers have the money.

Paying developers to fuck over consumers with exclusives just pissed everybody off royal. That strat might have worked on Consoles, but not on PC.

PC Gamers __REALLY__ don't like to be emotionally blackmailed and disrespected as if we were farm animals to be slaughtered for cash.

8BitDo Ultimate 2 is getting full Steam Input support for more buttons
30 Apr 2025 at 10:53 pm UTC

"8BitDo Ultimate 2.4G Controller" -- It was really nice having a switch on the bottom of the controller to switch between 2.4Ghz and Bluetooth modes -- personally I have had so many bad years with Bluetooth input lag I am basically just done with it RF is superior in both range and speed empirically.

The 2.4 doesn't always map correctly with other apps even outside steam, and it's made in Shenzhen just next to Hong Kong so I probably won't be getting the v2.

The experience is generally better than other controllers, and people have commented they like the feel and texture, and to their credit they seem to generally do a really good job.

The other products receive criticism for software being Windows only and in Chinese (Not sure if they fixed that with their Keebs)

Linux Gamers are still halfway choosing beggars though -- I would love to just go with a classic controller and swap out new internal RF components, there are enough controller shells that are legendary enough to be a great fit for modding.

I just want to remind everyone that Blizzard-Activision is now a subsidiary of Microsoft.

The same as GitHub, Mojang and others.

The blob grows.
