System Shock remake has blasted past the Linux stretch goal, officially coming to Linux

Yep, same here.

The demo isn't bad. But nothing that could convince me putting some money into this project. But then again, I've never played the original either.

Graphics look good, albeit a little to colourful and shiny and glossy for my taste.

I'll have a look again at the remake after it has been released (for Linux).

As strange as it might sound, the one game I miss the most since giving Windows the old heave-ho last year is LEGO The Lord of the Rings.
I was never really interested in playing the Lego games on PC. I've always played them together with a friend on the PlayStation. But when Lego Harry Potter -- which I consider one of the best in the series -- hit GOG.com I picked them up immediately. The game works great through Wine.

Would be fantastic to have them ported to Linux though- without Steam. ;-)

Kingdom Rush Frontiers coming to Linux after the initial Window launch

Quoting: subI've to agree Kingdom Rush is super fun.
However super hard too - at least for me.
Absolutely! I really enjoyed the game but never finished it. I couldn't make it through the last mission and gave up after a couple of unsuccessful attempts.

It's a fun game nonetheless- and I really like the artwork.

Nightdive Studios aren't sure when the Linux version of the System Shock remake will be available

For some reason, System Shock has never appealed to me. While I do find the story interesting I was never interested in the game (I watched a friend of mine playing it back in the day). Maybe I found the controls awkward already back in 1994.

Anyway, I might have given an updated and modernized version of the game a try (albeit I do find the graphics of the remake a little too colourful for my taste). But without a confirmed Linux version I’m not interested.

I might check again after the game has been released- if it is released for Linux as well, that is.

Woa Shmerl, thanks a lot! Removing lib32-libpulse did the trick.

It would never have occurred to me that this is actually a problem connected to the sound system, especially as I don't use PulseAudio and the 32-bit library must have got installed as a dependency only.

Now everything is working and I can finally give the game a try.

Thanks again for your help!

The game immediately crashes with a "core dumped" message. The Player.log file indicates the following error message:
FMOD failed to get number of drivers ... An error occured that wasn't supposed to.  Contact support.

(Filename:  Line: 533)

Strange enough though, the gamepad configuration tool works.

The game crashes on my Intel/nVidia (367.27) desktop as well as on my li'l AMD powered laptop with the open source radeon driver.

Too bad. I finally picked the game up and am really in the mood to give this game a try. But now it isn't working. :-P

Seems like I'm not the only one having problems with this game. But so far I couldn't find a solution.

What are you playing this weekend?

Some Insurgency and Anno 1404 for some relaxation.

The Dwarves trailer has me cautiously excited for this fantasy role-playing game

The trailer looks great (albeit the music is pretty bad; well, I don't like that heavy metal score at least x-D). Glad I'm a backer of this project. Looking forward to it.

^ This.

I've picked this game up on day one but stopped playing it after only maybe an hour or so. There's absolutely nothing why I would want to continue playing SR. It looks great in the beginning but feels absolutely sterile.
