An update on Insurgency: Sandstorm, Day of Infamy and competitive play for Insurgency
18 Jun 2016 at 11:26 am UTC

Quoting: liamdaweIt is starting to sound a bit more like Battlefield, which is cool.
Funny enough, I never really liked the Battlefield games until I picked up Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and now I'm really missing a Battlefield-like game on Linux. They are simply fun and different to games like Insurgency.

Anyway, the blog post sounds interesting and I'm excited to see how Sandstorm will develop.

I'm also curious about Day of Infamy. The mod is fun already and it has a totally different mood to it compared to Insurgency, which I like.

I'm torn between picking this game up or not. I really like the Deus Ex vibe of it. But every time I see the beat 'em up gameplay I'm totally put off again.

SteamWorld Heist launched with day-1 Linux support, some thoughts

The game looks fun indeed! Hope it will eventually make it DRM free to GOG.com or the Humble store as well.

The GOG summer sale has begun, tons on sale, get buying

Great sales! Picked up Eye of the Beholder I to III, Agatha Christie - The ABC Murders (still think it's one of her best stories), X Rebirth and Anno 1701 (Anno 1404 already works great with wine, so 1701 shouldn't give any trouble either).

Minecraft 1.10 released, adds Polar Bears and more

Wow, I wasn't expecting another update for Minecraft. That's great news.

Polar bears? I LOVE polar bears!

Quoting: GNUzelI'm 20 and still love it, 4 years since I originally bought it. Amazing game, best played with friends, in my opinion.
There're people way older than you are that still greatly enjoy Minecraft, believe me. ;-)

Like getting scared? Some Horror games you have to check out on Linux & SteamOS
7 Jun 2016 at 7:07 pm UTC

I'm not really into horror games but I played a little of Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs and I think they are worth mentioning when talking about scary games for Linux. The game I've played most so far is SOMA though (haven't finished it yet). Of all the mentioned games I like SOMA best for its setting. It isn't super scary but I still find it pretty atmospheric.

I'd be interested in Alien: Isolation because I really like the (first three) movies. But unfortunately it's Steam only. After watching some gameplay videos, I have to say that my interest has also dwindled greatly as it seems that the player is mainly walking/running from A to B and back to A after picking up some new tool and then repeat the whole procedure from the beginning again after picking up yet another new tool.

I think the horror game I've enjoyed most was Resident Evil back on the PS1.

The most disturbing game I've played was DAYZ (the original ArmA II mod).

GOG Connect announced, add certain Steam games to GOG for a limited time

Nice idea but not really that interesting -- at least for me -- given the limited number and rather simple games. Bring on some AAA titles and/or games that are not yet available for Linux on GOG.com and we may talk again.

OpenRW, an open source engine for Grand Theft Auto III

Exactly my first thought as well when I read about OpenRW.

Duskers leaves Early Access, here's a review

The game sounds very interesting indeed. However, I think a first person view or rather the view directly through the camera of the drones would've made this game even more immersive.

RUNNING WITH RIFLES updated with mod support and a big sale, already has a zombie mod

Quoting: JackMayolwe had a lot of piracy which is to expect for a completely DRM-free game but the problem was that the pirates often caused chaos on the servers, like teamkilling en masse, etc. So the only way was to have a steamID check. Kinda sad for the legit players who want to play it outside of Steam but those are by far the minority, probably not even 0.5% of the playerbase.
Thanks for the heads-up JackMayol. I already figured that we (the DRM-free player base) are by far the minority when you guys still actively supported the game on Desura and loaded it up there for the few of us. ^^ So I already expected that one day the game will be Steam only.

I'd rather like to thank you for your continuous support.
