I'll be happy to see another Portal game as long as they keep Stephen Merchant far away from it. If I never hear his bloody annoying voice again it'll be too soon.

I wouldn't think of him as a mechanic either, he's more like a used car salesman that can't open the bonnet of the car he's sold us to check if all the engine parts are in the right places.

Quoting: GuestEr, the bugs are in Unity. That is down to the Unity devs to solve. This is like saying if you have problems driving your car, you should become a mechanic and fix it.Yes the bugs are in Unity, but I'm not expecting him to fix them himself, it's his job to report the bugs to Unity & get them to fix them.

A bad workman always blames his tools, or in this case lack of tools, especially when he could fully solve that lack in less than an hour FOR FREE, it might take him a bit longer than that to get to grips with the complexities of Linux after spending so may years with Windows but it's not like he'd have to shell out for a whole new machine to run Linux on, it works on pretty much anything you throw it at these days & better than Windows in most cases.

It looks very much like Descent Underground has been abandoned by the developers as it hasn't been updated since September 2017 & removing it from Steam was just bad.

Quoting: liamdaweI have all of the originals & both of these new ones & while Descent Underground has possession of the name, Overload has possession of the game. Descent Underground isn't a bad game but Overload eclipses it totally, it just IS the definitive modern Descent game even without the name.Quoting: dpanterIs Descent Underground even still going? Was removed from Steam ages ago.Quoting: ProfessorKaos64How does Overload compare to Descent Underground?Only played the Overload playable teaser so far but everything feels right, know what I mean? Classic Descent was what, way back in '95 or something. It's possible that I could have the ol' rose-tinted glasses on when reminiscing... ;)
I have Descent Underground from, I think Kickstarter a while back. Is this the same trleam? How do they compare?
Teamwise, take a look: https://playoverload.com/team/ [External Link]
Didn't try Descent Underground, but from what I read online the reception was rather underwhelming.
Overload is fantastic, made by some original Descent developers.

Quoting: liamdaweNot sure what it was, but it's now working, I might even get time to actually play it by the weekend. I'll buy the deluxe version when it's on Steam.Quoting: lucifertdarkRight now the free version doesn't work on my system, it's unable to load ScreenSelector.so, instant crash to desktop, haven't got time right now to fix it.Odd, worked fine for me, it's a Unity game and that sounds like an issue loading the Unity launcher.

Quoting: ShmerlThe studio is Canadian actually. :) And yes, they said [External Link] several works were an inspiration for them including Brazil, The Prisoner, A Clockwork Orange, Brave New World, 1984 and Doctor Who.I hadn't seen what was written on that link, but I can see all those movies & tv series influence in this, fingers crossed it actually arrives for Linux.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyWell, it is a British game, so I'm sure there's an echo there. But it's different too; The Prisoner was this separate space from the world, this elite prison thing run by the near-infallible organization. We Happy Few is in the world, a dystopia thing where the government is doing this stuff to everyone--plus the trailer gives me the impression that, being British, it's done pretty inefficiently, so rather than near-infallible things are going to crap. Rather "Brazil"-esque.Yep I see the Brazil comparison now you mention it, I wonder if there'll be guerrilla plumbers in this as well?

This is the game version of the tv series The Prisoner from the 60s, right down to the main character trying to escape from The Village while they try to break him with mind altering drugs & force him to stay, the only difference is he has a name instead of a number.
Needless to say I love that series & I can't wait to get my hands on this game.
