Planet Nomads drops plans to have co-op and multiplayer

While playing multiplayer games can be fun, the whole point of a survival game is to survive against all odds, having a team of friends tag along changes everything & it's no longer against all odds.

Someone should put him in touch with the developers of the Niddhog games.

Quoting: lucifertdarkTelltale were more than likely ordered to kill all Linux development or lose their spot in the Windows App Store. Microsoft have always been shady b'stards.
Given M$ attitude to open source I would not be surprised at all.
Oh come on. How does this even make sense?
Why wouldn't it make sense? It's not the first time they've stuck the knife into a rival. Never Trust Microsoft.

Quoting: GNUzelSo... No Man's Sky, but for Linux?
You say that like it's a bad thing. I for one want a No Man's Sky type game for Linux & if Planet Nomads is that game then I'll be happy to play it without the multiplayer or coop.

Quoting: Crazy PenguinI still have this issue, also that I have to start the game at least 3 times before I can play it. But then it looks like <censored> and I'm quitting it. It is still no fun to play it on Linux :(
I had that as well for a while, but that went away for me about 70 updates back, they release so many patches it's hard to keep up with what's in them or even know they've released another one.

The 5 minute menu freeze on startup that I've had since day one has finally vanished, that was the main thing that stopped me playing, now I can actually get into the game & start playing straight away instead of going off & making a cup of coffee while I wait for the menu to wake itself up again.

Maybe it uses the same engine? The provided list at least shows that they actually tried and tested. GameMaker Studio is not really an engine you can patch up yourself.
Perhaps, but it's not like they're the only developer out there, there are others who have ported with that game engine to Linux & had success, they could ask for help if they really wanted to.
