You will want to force your CPU into high performance mode for Vulkan games on Linux

Quoting: KeyrockThanks for the heads up, Liam. I made two files, called gov_perf and gov_psav and copied the short scripts into them, then made them executable and copied them to usr/bin. That way I can issue the commands from any directory with a single word typed. I'm sure I could add gov_perf to launcher scripts of games so that the process is auto-magic. Now to figure out a way to make games trigger gov_psav upon exit...
You know you could add them as bash aliases as well? they would then work from terminal, tested & fully working here. :D

alias perform='echo performance | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor'Gives you performance &

alias demand='echo ondemand | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor'puts it back to ondemand.

put those lines in your .bash_aliases file & you're good to go.

Why? Windows has it's uses, I mean what other OS can we point at & laugh if not Windows?

ARK: Survival Evolved has a major update with a needed UI refresh

The one & only time I actually got it to anywhere near playable I was killed instantly by a Raptor, then I respawned in the same spot & the evil little bugger was waiting for me & killed me again & again & again. Since then I haven't been able to play it for more than a few seconds at a time without the entire system grinding to a halt while it waits for Ark to finish loading or doing whatever the heck it does when it's just sitting there frozen.

Quoting: silmethIf you had an earlier version of Windows, maybe. That’s still not free of charge for people looking for an OS for their OS-less hardware, nor free-as-in-freedom. ;-)
Quoting: EikeI had Vista, so it wouldn't be free for me.
The last version of Windows I paid for directly was Windows XP, Windows 8.1 is only on here for Lightroom, until I can get my head round Darktable or Rawtherapee.

Beat Cop released with day one Linux support, my review

This is something you'd never find between the pages of a gaming magazine, an honest review of a game. Bravo Liam! I still plan to buy the game when I can though. ;)

People often say this game is badly optimised, I disagree with them, I say it hasn't been optimised whatsoever, the developers (not sure they deserve the title) just spend their days adding fluff & fiddling with hit points. If I hadn't been given the game I certainly wouldn't buy it as it stands right now.

I think I might just as well post my wallet to them, they'll be emptying it later this year anyway. ;)

Quoting: lucifertdarkI had one of the older versions before Steam was a thing, never could get past crashing on take-off so I'll probably give this a miss & NPC passengers around the world heave a sigh of relief.
Do you mean a program crash, or you would crash the airplane?

If it's the latter, I'll say again, X-Plane is not an arcade game, it is a flight simulator intended for real-world pilots and flight simulator enthusiasts who enjoy a realistic experience. The software now includes some basic tutorials for "newbies", but my advice has always been that the real X-Plane manual is a pilot training handbook and operating handbook specific to the aircraft you want to fly. Basically, you're going to have to spend some time learning to fly a real airplane in order to get the most out of X-Plane.
Definitely plane crash not program crash, that's why I won't be buying this one, I spent hours & hours poring over the manual, familiarising myself with the controls only to crash the plane, so I'm not going to be a pilot.

My Sons will be happy to see this stuff as they enjoy a bit of Anime, I can take or leave it as I peaked at Akira & Legend of the Overfiend.
