Faeria is an excellent turn based strategy game with cards where you build the board

yep it's one of those "not good enough for SteamOS" but it works perfectly fine on Linux in general. it even shows up as active in the steamdb website.
After 9 hours of playing I'm pretty addicted already. Blizzard can stick it now :P i've played hearthstone since beta and when I seen this game and it supports Linux, that was a sure deal. Now i can officially say I no longer use wine for anything after playing this. I find this a lot more enjoyable than Hearthstone, because Hearthstone has become way to heavily based on the "RNG" aspect as they call it. where literally matches can be simply won or lost based on how the random aspects of that game fall in or out of your favor.
At least for now, Faeria seems to be geared toward more strategy rather than random rolls. there are some random aspects to Faeria but they by no means effect the game in such an extreme as Hearthstone currently is.

A chat with AtomicTorch Studio about their Linux sales with Dinocide & VoidExpanse

VoidExpanse has been one of my favorite games of the past year. There were some forum exchanges with myself and one of the devs to help fix the mono issues regarding Linux. I didn't realize they had this many issues. I hope in time they are able to get a profit though. because at least with steam the game really never goes away, plus they have their own store so people can purchase DRM Free.
It does work spectacularly well on Linux, I found adjusting the mods or customizing my own mods was very easy. everything was in a very easy to read script language (java?). I haven't played in awhile, I just might though here soon now that I'm thinking about it again :P
edit: I wanted to jump back into this game for another run but it looks like the newest version is having some crazy issues as described by the rep/dev in this thread earlier. I had to do some searching to find out what's going on, but there is an option to revert to the 1.6.0 version in the "beta" tab on steam. which loaded up the main screen fine but when playing the screen is black but when I press the escape key to get a menu I can see everything just fine. kind of a bummer I was wanting to play another run through :/
Hopefully things get worked out with unity.

as long as development stays strong with the adoption of Vulkan then Linux has nothing to worry about. but in order to see significant change though there will need to be some undeniable reasons for people to look into switching to Linux.
Although I have seen some steady small numbers showing up in the "Eye Candy Linux" Community on Google+ that have said they just started using Linux and wanted help. I see this more often in the Ubuntu and Linux Mint community on Google+ there are people constantly looking into the other alternatives on the market.
the linux community as a whole seems to be really helpful so far towards newbies. Plus I've noticed Dell is starting to show a couple of additional Linux laptops.
We are literally at the very beginning of a possible breakthrough in technology and innovation because of more companies that are starting to take Linux a bit more seriously. e.g. Nvidia with their brand of self driving cars.
I can't wait for the GDC coming up soon. This should be interesting.

Quoting: Madeanaccounttocommentit was mentioned in the various gdc and other conference videos I've seen. but you can check the Khronos group website for the information about Sony and Google being on the Board of Promoters. I'd have to go and google it up again myself, but the information is out there.Quoting: neowiz73Can you link to source for Playstation 4 supporting Vulkan? I've only been able to find articles where a game developer is saying the Playstation 4 "should" support Vulkan because it'd be a smart move.Quoting: MalThat being said: imagine a world where Sony go crazy and open ps to Vulkan. The arguments above would be completely defeated. Many big heads at M$ would immediately arakiri XDSony is on the board of promoters for Vulkan and have already stated they will be updating the PS4 for Vulkan. Also the Nintendo NX that is coming out soon is going to have Vulkan support as well. Oh and don't forget Android will be updated for Vulkan support in their next major update, which should be the Android N release this fall.

you guys should check out Star Swarm Stress Test when you get the chance, it was the early version of Ashes of Singularity and it shows how the Nitrous engine was developed originally with the Mantle API in mind. so you know it's already setup for Vulkan more-so than any other engine at this moment. I would wager it will be one the first and most likely one of the best games to showcase much of Vulkan's capabilities. As soon as nvidia and amd get off their butts and get the drivers fully ready.

I wasn't expecting a day 1 release anyway. as long as it eventually happens after most of the bugs are worked out then I'm all good with that.

Star Citizen update, they are considering Vulkan

Chris Roberts has a special set of Cry Engine devs working on Star Citizen, which those devs will be the sole reason the Cry Engine may very well support Vulkan. This was specifically so that they could cross platform to Linux and Mac. The patches that are planned have not been accepted by the main Cry Engine devs yet. When... and IF they do, We can simply thank Chris Roberts for making this happen because he has specifically did this so folks on Linux will be able to play this game.

they should just scrap the OS portion off the survey because of the lack of accuracy. the rest of it i'm sure is maybe worthwhile to someone. but I totally agree the PC World article is poorly written. it wouldn't be the first time nor the last. I remember an article from back in '93 from a PC World magazine that said Windows '95 wouldn't be able to remove OS/2 from it's top spot as OS of choice.
So yeah, take the article for what it's worth and that isn't much ;)
Valve works on Valve time which can be pretty long, we have to have patience and just continue to enjoy the games.
