was anyone else hoping it would scale higher? I was really wanting to see a raging storm there :P
It seems like a really nice engine, QT creator is a nice tool to be able to use with this.

RollerCoaster Tycoon World now planning on Early Access, Linux is not day-1

I'm just glad i waited instead of forking out money that would have possibly gone to waste. I was a bit leary from the start anyway. only certain devs that have a known good track record with Linux are the ones I will fork money toward in an early access or crowd fund.

Until I see it pop up in the steamdb I'm not going to worry with it. I'm surprised Aspyr hasn't ported RT3. Although I would prefer a wine port of RT2 though, that would be nice :)

Quoting: Mountain ManI'm glad Diablo III plays as well as it does in Wine, otherwise I'd probably still have Windows installed, but if I could get a native Linux game that is just as good, I'd be very happy. Even better if it has offline play, because as much as I love Diablo III, it still bothers me somewhat that it depends on my ability to connect to Blizzard's servers.
I have Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2, and I've found Torchlight 2 to be a bit more fun because of the extended content from certain mods that add more overall depth to the game. the other nice thing about Torchlight 2 is the toolset runs in wine quite well so modifying content is easy. It's something I enjoy doing as a hobby. But I also like what Blizzard has done with Diablo 3 as far as keeping it going with new content from time to time. So I really enjoy playing both when I have a need for hack 'n slash fun.

I'm honestly surprised we haven't seen to many hack 'n slash type games with the same quality and depth. Torchlight 2 was developed by ex-blizzard employees that worked on Diablo 1 and 2. They didn't want to make Torchlight 3 because they didn't want to compete with Diablo 3... but are also "burnt out" on that sort of game and went on to make Hob for the PS4.

There's still room to grow in the hack 'n slash genre of games... it would be nice to see more based on sci-fi and sci-fi/fantansy mix.

looks real promising, at least it's not using Unity, :P Most of the games in my list I want or like to play are using Unity and each one are having some graphical issues because of similar bugs in Unity.
I haven't seen to many really good hack 'n slash rpgs.

cool, my wife has been looking forward to this game. I might have to check it out myself, I like most simulation games.

GOL Asks: What have you been playing recently?

for now it will mainly be Faeria but Civ 5 is always fun, I've played every Civ game since the original on msdos. so it's literally second nature for me to play Civ, lol.
I'm mainly waiting on Starbound and Planet Explorers to get close to completion. Starbound should be reaching the 1.0 version with a month or two. and a lot of people will be surprised at the amount of content going into the 1.0 release. I read their main website for all the dev updates and it's mind boggling at the amount of new stuff and the really cool content that has stemmed from mods that were originally made for Starbound but now have been refined and added by the dev team to the main game.

Punch Club was an interesting break, it being such a casual sort of game was quite relaxing for a change.

I really wished Ino-Co Plus would fix Warlock 2 for linux. as it stands I have purchased the main game and the latest expansion and I've yet to be able to play a full game because of a bug with the dynamic mission system the game has. it's completely random also. because some of the time the missions register and clear fine but then at random times it will not clear the mission and corrupt the save along with an error that causes the game to crash instantly. so basically each game is like a demo for a random 5 to 10 hour period.

I'm facing off against Matt from Feral Interactive again at 11am UTC today!

Faeria is an excellent turn based strategy game with cards where you build the board

Quoting: Mountain Man"Once the game leaves Early Access it will be free to play..."

If it's anything like Hearthstone then people who don't spend big bucks on booster packs will be at a significant competitive disadvantage, so the "free to play" portion is more like a limited demo than a viable, long-term way to play.
like any TCG, it will cost money if you want to be competitive to any sort of degree. you do get a lot of gold from various aspects of game early on and you are able to craft cards from destroying excess of 3 of any one type of card because that is the max per deck.
In my personal experience it is by far the cheapest to date even compared to Hearthstone. as it stands, Hearthstone runs a deal now for $50 to get 50 packs of cards during special promotional pre-purchase for upcoming expansions. after that the same amount runs $60.

In Faeria you spend $50 and you get the entire basic set of cards plus you get reimbursed all of the gold you've spent on packs if you have done so. I really like how cheap it is for level of entry to be honest.
From what I have read they plan to promote this for esports competitive tournaments.

In Magic: The Gathering competitive decks could cost you anywhere from $500 to $1500 (sometimes more) in buying boxes of cards plus some individual cards if you have bad luck in finding the ones you need, per year because of the frequency of the expansions.
